Just something to be aware of

Featured Replies

This topic has no discussion value, though you can discuss it if you want. But i don't know about you but i were not aware that unnecessary messages in public chat was against rules. So i wanted to put some attention on this...

Not only because of the rule but because Price manipulators are:

1) Ruining our public chat at G.E, by spamming it up or flooding it if you may. Even if you add the people to your ignore list their stupid messages will make your important ones disappear faster.

Example if your in a area and a player is spamming the chat. Your message in Private chat and Clan chat will disappear faster than in a area with no spam.

2) Price manipulators are no good. Them spamming public chats proofs it even more...

OK to my point.

Rules of Runescape>Respect>Spamming, or disruptive behaviour

6. What is flooding the chat window?

Spamming/flooding the chat window is to fill the chat window with unnecessary text. This is an offence and is disruptive and unfair on other players, as it makes it more difficult for them to communicate and trade with each other.

Here is a screenshot of a chat where a price manipulator is advertising a clan chat by flooding the chat:

435431751a6f3cbbac6b956e5469052340b40d9.png

So please if you see a player flooding chat, report them for disruptive behaviour. This will keep our public chat cleaner..

Thanks for reading

By the fact the name of the file is "Goldmerch4" they would probaly just make a new file if it got banned.

Erm. As far as I know, it's not against the rules.

hopesolopatriot.jpg

I usually report them for macro or use of bots because they are autotyping fools.

I'd love for Jagex to instate something like the Rico Act on them because the spam is terrible and it scams the players who fall for it.

Well manipulating is against the rules and they are promoting people to do it.

Price manipulation is not against any rules. Autotyping is not reportable unless they specifically admit to using one. Advertising a clan chat or buying/selling an item is not against the rules.

But flooding chat (Unnecessary messages) is. And that's what majority price manipulator clan chats do when they advertise at G.E.

I'm pretty sure people using auto typers can be reported under macroing.

It's only bannable if those [developmentally delayed]s actually admit to having them. Ex: "i is usin macro 2 type dis atm" That came from a PMod I know, and the same thing from another one.

Price manipulation is not against the rules in-game. However macroing, flooding the chat window, and trying to scam other players our of their money is. So they are clearly breaking atleast three rules there and the cc owners are most likely behind the autotypers so they should be punished too. They are banning mains of the merchant clans now though.

All reporting for macroing does is flag the user for their system to investigate so yes you can report for it and yes they might be banned.

Price manipulators and macroers are very different.

There are two types of spam, game related and non-game related. Game related spam consists of things like trade offers, adverts to join a clan chat channel or PvP spam. [...]ignore this type of spam, and if players are complaining, [it is advisable] that the ignore list is used.

I have heard from many people on this board that price manipulating clan chat leaders often cheat other users out of their money. How is that not scamming?

Also using autotyper is not exactly macroing, but i think i read using it is against the rules. If it's not i would like to see some proof.

They may be different but in the end they both hurt players playing with either forcing them to pay more, not allowing them to sell their items, or spamming public chat so they can't read messages. Noone likes to see "join this clan and make millions" every other line in their public chat. As Sirhermen said they still make the chat go away faster even if they are on your ignore or you put chat to friends.

Nothing is being done directly to cheat people out of their money. Rather, a price manipulator advises people what to buy and sell. It is up to these users to use their knowledge, provided both in-game and on the Grand Exchange, to make a decision; it is not against the rules.

Autotyping is against the rules but it is not reportable unless a) they admit to using one or B) begin to type non-game related spam.

I shall quote again.

hopesolopatriot.jpg

I've long interpreted what these guys do as against the rules, whether they're auto typing or not. I report them frequently. In fact, I keep getting the "you just reported someone less than 30 seconds ago -- don't abuse the system" message. There are so many at the GE in the crowded worlds that it's a big job to report them all. Perhaps a Tip It Group event? Hop from world to world reporting the spammers. This would assure multiple reports for each spammer and maybe help to get more of them banned? (Btw, I've seen a few people spamming with pretty decent stats, so getting banned might be a big deal for some of these guys.)

punitivedsig.png

Everytime I've seen these type of people, I've reported them as much as I can. (is there still that 60 second rule?)

It's one of the excuses to be a wannabemod.

Edit to make it clearer: I only ever report when it's 100% sure that they're autoing.

Wow...

There goes our only way to get ride of the stupid messages of price manipulators :wall: Here i thought we had found a way :(

You can report players advertising a clan chat excessively if you wish. Atmosphere and the community trumps the rules.

Jagex is not stupid they know if someone is using an autotyper or not and those advertisers have been muted many a time for using one. They also tell the people to buy the item and at what price to buy it. They don't suggest it they tell it. It may be up to the users to make the buy but they lie to the players and give them false information that encourages a very bad buy. Lying to players and tricking them is scamming therefore it is against the rules.

@Sirhemen: Continue to report them as much as you like. It does not say in the KB you can't report for autotyping nor has a J mod said so. As Jagex says P mod are no more than their eyes and ears in game so what they say is not law unless they quote the KB.

If they are disturbing the atmosphere in game and bothering the community then Jagex will get them because they could potentially lose subscribers and maybe get DDOS'd some more or even......that dreaded brick threw their window.
