Is there any non-expensive way to train Prayer?

Featured Replies

Umm, sorry to burst the bubble here....but.....

Gathering your own bones does not make the skill cheap. If you gathered your bones, lets say 5m worth. You would be losing the 5m you could have earned if you sold it. So either way, you're still losing money by ectoing, or whatever, those bones.

You could train prayer by genie lamps, penguins, and my personal favorite...the WGS reward at the cost of not using those for another skill.

No, if he collects all the good drops from green dragons (herbs worth around 1.5K or more and all the dhides) he could make around 5-6M by the time he collect around 5M worth of d bones. And by collecting he isn't spending his money, he's just losing profit from each kill.

Honestly? Collecting seems like a good way to go. With d bone prices set to rise even further, if you collect a good amount you could save yourself spending about 10M on prayer :)

Don't get me wrong, I agree with the collecting, and I realize that I seemed anti-collecting in my post. Sorry.

Its just that the drops attained from killing the dragons would all come from training combat, which could be trained on another monster. Or the hides could have been used to train crafting instead of selling. Or the extra money could be put towards summoning or something.

Still don't believe me?

Say a player really likes the construction skill. But he doesn't have enough money to level it up and build a nice house. He says "I'll do it later, when I have more money." He levels his account up and makes gazoodles of money. Enough to build a nice house and level up construction. Yet, while he has the money, he decides to put it towards something else, say prayer. He chose prayer over construction. He could chose construction or prayer, but he couldn't choose both. He could only choose one, and the decision was made at the expense of not choosing the other.

(Assuming he was going to make a choice.)

This is opportunity cost.

I've never seen Sixth Sense nor Inception nor many other popular movies and I intend to keep it that way.

Found a way.

Every time you do a task for the Prayer tutor, she gives you Prayer xp times 25 as well as the minimum price of the stuff you bought on the G.E. I just port to Varrock to buy the stuff on the GE and port back to Lumby to collect my reward. I made over 50K prayer xp an day with this method (you can only get 6 tasks an hour), and it cost me about 2 gp/xp because of the telerunes.

I piety the fool.

Wouldn't killing green dragons, picking up the hides and bones, and then selling the hides for more bones be a lot quicker? I seriously doubt a prayer tutor will give any good exp. And around 200 bones on a gilded altar would give 50k experience, at a way quicker pace. It just seems like a really slow method to train prayer through a low level prayer tutor.

Nah, you can do most tasks in about a minute, for (me) a quick 1125 prayer xp. You can only do six per game hour though, which is the limiting factor.

Ok, so he can either get 50k exp a day or 50k exp an hour. Yeah, the tutor is sooo much better. Green dragons are the best way to train prayer. Gather the hides, bones, and any drops worth more than 2k or 1k if you want to bank more often. A b.o.b would increase the speed at which you collect. I can make at least 400k a hour at green dragons in the wild and maybe more if I went to the chaos tunnels.

What do you mean by "times 25"?

No, the only reasonable way to train prayer is to bury bones, which are valuable tradeable items. Yea you could farm bones and use them but then you lose the money you could have made by selling them.

There's no way around it, the best way to train prayer is to do whatever activity makes money the fastest for you, and buy the bones.

It never occurred to you you can do both...?

1k exp in about 2 minutes isn't really bad exp, and after that you aren't obliged to sit down and wait till you can do the next task, you could actually continue killing green dragons... :P

And yeah, it costs either time or money, and since time = money it just costs money.

Tiny bits of exp, it's not really considerable for actually gaining reasonably speedy levels for him.

Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.

Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well.

And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.

[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. Makes for a good life.

Something a lot of people forget is killing Ghasts.

You get 30 prayer xp per kill, which isn't a whole lot. But you can kill quite a lot of them, since they are so weak.

I have no idea if this is a viable method or not. I've never tried it. It's always been Gilded altar w/ d bones for me, maybe the occasional wyvern bone. However, I'd say it's worth a least a shot. You never know. Many of the "secret" training places that we all now know (such as Skeleton Monkeys, Armored Zombies, and Bandits) were the result of people thinking outside the box and exploring every dusty corner. Why not give this a try?

Ghasts are basically baby dragons, only instead of picking up and burying the bones after you kill them, you need to fill druid pouches before you kill them. It's not that peole forget them, it's just that they aren't good.

They are also quicker and easier to kill.

Couldn't you also simply buy the Mushrooms and add them to the Druid Pouch beforehand?

Well the fungi sell on the G.E for 744gp each, so that would be pointless...

As Troacctid said, killing baby blue dragons would be faster

I suppose so.

I was just throwing around ideas anyway.

Btw, that thing with the prayer tutor...is it f2p?

I also think this might be a bug, you're supposed to get one only every 15 tasks. However, I've been getting a lamp every task :ohnoes:

The prayer tutor would probably be one of the more efficient ways for an F2P player to raise prayer.

And quick question, why is the fungi still maintaining its value? Wasn't its main use in super energy pots made pointless with the energy update?
