No Update Week

Oh, and I like the upgrades. But they don't take as long as new content, not most of them anyhow.

I posted that on the 2nd page. Sorry for not spelling it out more. I said that so that someone wouldn't bring up the Rest, Randoms, Path Finding and claim that I was underestimating the time they put into them. Guess you went ahead and did it anyway, lol

To be fair, I had already brought those up as examples of how the upgrades are really great improvements to the game. Things like the sortable spell interface really don't deserve to be a headline update.

The trouble with spending the extra time to get things right is that you don't get it wrong the first time, so nobody notices all the things you fixed before the release. I'm giving Jagex the benefit of the doubt after seeing the initial messes we got out of Vinesweeper and SC and Bounty Hunter; nothing similarly stupid has jumped out and screamed "Don't you guys test this stuff at all?!" for any recent update I can think of, so I assume the new stuff is more polished and less rushed because of the extra time spent. The fact that Mobilizing Armies was perfectly balanced pretty much immediately (except for a temporary crash or something on some of the scenarios that probably had more to do with server load than design flaws) seems to support this point of view, although I will grant that most of the extra time was probably spent upgrading the engine to support it.

Are you nuts? Multiple people lost money and other stuff thanks to MA's, I believe, tutorial. The most any one person lost, that was CONFIRMED, was 350 MILLION. That's the kind of thing that makes you question whether it was tested.

Did they test it? Yes.

Did they test it WELL? No.

And IMO, the reason MA was so buggy was because they released it early (the programming for something of that sort on Runescape must've taken FOREVER) because of so many psychos begging for it instead of the updates they had been putting out. Let's just hope they don't do that with the new skill, or the next few quests.

Let's see. They announced it nine months before release. They took a week off before release to test. They released.

And the bugs came out like raccoons in a dumpster after night falls.

I don't bloody well care if it's "new programming" I expect it to be reasonably free of bugs, like, for example, not stealing money or have three of the four game modes down on release. But, eh. The game itself isn't fun even sans the bugs. So, watchagunnadoeh? (Hint: Download Warcraft II for free)

[/hide]

Let some blame fall on Jagex for having a failure team for testing, but let more blame fall on the idiots who got so tired of what they were getting that they begged, whined, complained, and the the like for MA to come out to the point where someone at Jagex yelled, "I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANY MORE! JUST RELEASE MA IF THEY WANT IT SO BADLY!"

Nah, I'll stick with RS for a while, simply because I enjoy teaching some of these idiots logic, WHILE BEATING THEM UP! WHOO!

hum my question is not that you complain about all the bad or buggy updates but have you ever been thankful for the good ones... such as skills, mini games, quests, gwd, corp beast, or the fact that they have spent months trying to fix pvp because they actually had the guts to take rwt on unlike many other games... i think you feel you should complain about the bad and take in the good without so much as a thank you

they are trying and if you can accept that there are plenty on other games you can play online and offline

What the OP is saying is basically:

Waah! No updates!

Waah! Updates suck!

Waah! Updates full of bugs!

Apparently the upgrade year is to upgrade the game to make it smoother, better graphics, more convenient, etc. Not for perfect minigames and stuff. And Jagex did a good job in making the game smoother and more convenient IMO. Apparently, you're complaining and whining because you expect huge updates and the usual stuff.

This year's updates were quite lackluster, yes, but it was a not too bad considering the fact that it was called the UPGRADE year.

Things like tools for clans, reaching out to fansites, developers' blogs, twitter and not being so silent and keeping to themselves were huge improvements for the community.

Rest, the running upgrade and some other stuff made the game more streamlined and smooth.

Quests developed storylines further, finished storylines, etc.

So just be appreciative, stop taking all the bad things and nitpicking. Jagex has made huge improvements in reaching out to the community and upgrading the game to make it more smooth.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey, another week without an update. Apparently the dull and shallow content they've been releasing has them so backed up, they don't have anything for us this week.

[sarcasm]Oh, but on Twitter we have another promose of the "great" stuff yet to come. Joy. :P [/sarcasm]

Well honestly now, another week without even a stupid, little upgrayedd. I don't even have members now and I find this to be absurd. All their promises of the great things that are coming and nothing. I wasn't even ranting. And isn't this a Rants forum so that you can rant about Runescape? I don't think this is the Debate forum as so many others seem to confuse it for.

I'll put it like this though. I'll stop ranting when they stop sucking. #-o

Well, not a day goes by without you complaining about RS on the forums. Perhaps it's time to go back to WoW.

I played RS for 6 1/2 years before I even tried WoW. I found it to be a one dimensional game. And I often go for more than a day without complaining. Those are the days I'm not here posting. Having a life and whatnot. And I complain once, then keep talking as the thread moves on which usually people group in with more complaining.

But then again, if I like good content, medium-long quests, and don't like these false updates that are known at upgrades, wouldn't you imagine that I'd be complaining a lot.

Yeah, I own a zerk ring too, but I won't MA just another +4 str bonus. Give it time and I'm sure I can get something with a +6 or 8 before long without spending hours playing a crappy minigame.

And yes, that is their motto. I also want to know who stole the sign at the entrance to hell that "Abandon all hope ye who enter here" and stuck it over the main entrance door at Jagex.

Anyone who does that deserves to lose their job at jagex.

I fail to see how you think Jagex really gave a damn that people wanted MA asap when people not only complained but also quit when Jagex removed free trade and the wildy. If Jagex could really break under the tiny amount of pressure exerted on them for the release of MA they wouldn't have come as far as they have, and we'd certainly have free trade and wildy right now.

Just face it. Your beloved Jagex messed up big time when it came to MA. It wasn't anyone elses fault apart from Jagex.

The minigame itself is just poorly done. Forget the people begging for it, the rushing, the bugs, the waits for the game. The game itself is lackluster. They really have no business going into that type of game as it's done better and quicker by others. I get the feeling it was someone's pet project that got out and with everyone begging for it, they hyped it too much, and it fell totally flat.

The game blows.

Atleast they gave us siege mode so we could go to Fast MA CC, get our 300 ranks and then forget the game existed.

Suppose you're right. I still don't like the game. When it came out I said the game sucked mored than Michael Jackson at a cub scout sleepover.

Now I can say the game is deader than that pale white woman buried in the ground. 8-)

Jagex really does need to fix up their act though.

How comes nobody in the development team realised what a boring [wagon] minigame they were making? They had 9 months to make a decent minigame. And ranks are so slowly gained that I refuse to believe Jagex ever intended for alot of people to get 300 rank from the normal games.

by the time they realized it sucked they had hit the point of no return. And unlike when other people were in charge and something like Wilderness Tag was scrapped due to how bad it was, in MMG's Runescape, they let the beast out anyway. Probably had something to do with the hype as well.

I hear tell we're getting another no update week. How much you wanna bet next weeks update will be a sequel to Sheep Shearer called Like a Headless Chicken where you go pick up Farmer Fred's groceries and, as a reward, you get to fight the level 30 Greens Reaper once a week for one hundred farming experience and fifty cooking exp?

If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

Would that experience be planting a dagger in it's head?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if a week with not a single update if it was followed by something special, but it's not. This year we've had quite a few and the only one that would come close is MA, not because it's good, but because the difficulty of that project.

I remember, and this was a long time ago, trust me, but Jagex had some issues with a quest. So they had to hold it off to the next week. The next week they released both quests they had lined up. The release of "The Lost Tribe" which introduced Dorguush-Kaan and "The Giant Dwarf" which introduced Keldragrim. That would *never* happen today. They'd hold it off and give it to us later.

I'm not whining. I don't even have members. Why do people keep saying I want them to rush updates.

I don't want Jagex to rush updates!

I want them to simply develop good updates. The new content we've gotten this year has either been crap or little minor quests that take 20 minutes to do. I'm over that.

I'm not looking for a reason to complain. I'm given it on a silver platter almost every week.

My point was this will, likely, be another week without any form of update while next week's will more than likely be the same of crap. That is my opinion based on their actions for the year, not whining, complaining, trolling.

By the by, can we alljust stop with these damn interet words? I'm so tired of "trolling, fail" and all the other BS that permeates the teenage minds on here. Use some proper English so you don't sount like a bunch of internet marks.

Troll has been around at least since the usenet days of the 80s, which is more that most of the people here have been alive.

But dude, you started a rant about no updates this week. From your last post, you're basically complaining about what MIGHT happen in the future. And that's just silly.

No, I complained about their being a no update week like 3 weeks ago. And like that week, next week's update will probably suck. That's what I'm talking about now. The original topic was just about another no update week after such gruelling updates that had before it.
