August 7, 200916 yr I've been cutting yews for a while, and I recently reached 88 woodcutting. While it isn't that great in today's standards, it's still a reasonablly high level. I thought that around this level I would start making good money with yews, right? WRONG. I average around 3-5 yews per tree before it falls, and they are very slow. I'm f2p, and there aren't any good spots with yews. Even the most inconvenient places are packed, in pvp worlds as well. I know that the harder it is to cut yews, the higher the price it would be, but this is just ridiculous...
August 7, 200916 yr I'll tell you the key thing in your post. You're f2p. f2p has very few spots for anything high level and yews are very high sought after. Fish don't run out and can be fished at once, and mining can only get one, so no one competes with them. Woodcutting has it's own deal in f2p. Sorry, but you're SOL on f2p. August 7, 200916 yr Your expectations were unreasonably high. Somebody's been misleading you. Yews are never fast. Yews aren't a good way to make money. Not at any level. Not even in p2p, with a dragon hatchet, right next to a bank, in a full world, with four trees all to yourself, and level 99 woodcutting. Not even compared to other moneymakers in f2p. In fact, the whole woodcutting skill is a terrible moneymaker that's mediocre at best. Whoever told you yews were good for money was mistaken. And woodcutting level has no effect on how many logs you get before the tree falls down. You just have a certain chance of knocking it down after each log. In theory, you could get a whole inventory from any single tree oak or higher, although it's very unlikely. August 8, 200916 yr Im 92 woodcut and I get slow yews. Don't get your hopes up and stop training wc. Unless your in it for the skill cape like me. :)
August 8, 200916 yr I hate how long it takes to get yews too, or magics for that matter. I'm not very high in woodcutting, but I think if you can cut em, they should not be that slow. It saddens me. :(
August 8, 200916 yr i actually find yews kinda fast almost 9k banked since i started... on p2p with a lil world hoping u can find empty world in alot of the best spots... plus with the sound effects on u can just click and then look up stuff on youtube or better yet, tipit lol 98% Of teenagers surround their minds with rap music, if you're part of the 2% that stayed with rock, put this in your signature, ROCK IS BETTER!
August 8, 200916 yr Yea, yew got quite the popularity [bleep]e and now its crowded as hell in f2p. Its one of the better ways of money making in f2p with easy stat requirements so expect it to be crowded. O.O
August 8, 200916 yr I've never cut yews (couldn't be bothered to really GRIND my woodcutting levels), but I can tell you, willows at Draynor Village are just as bad, if not worse. Any world you go to, even with player numbers in the 200-300s, that place is filled to the brim with woodcutters. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!

Anyway 1-60 is hardly a grind, you can almost afk it while watching tv and it takes like a week. O.O

Obviously, because the required level to cut willows is 30 levels below that to cut yews... And honestly, I don't play that much RuneScape nowadays. Too boring. FunOrb is much more fun (excuse the pun). Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
August 8, 200916 yr I would find funorb fun if i was member. But its boring without rating =D. I would find funorb fun if i was member. But its boring without rating =D. I recommend a very fun game that is almost entirely F2P, aka Kickabout League. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
August 8, 200916 yr Lags like hell. Unlike some other games lag will screw you up alot in that game, and the servers are all american or something so pfft. O.O
August 8, 200916 yr Let's be frank, strength should affect the rate at which you cut logs. I can tell you right now, some toothpick-thin guy, is not going to cut at the same rate as a professional lumberjack (Competition-grade).
August 8, 200916 yr I went to 99 Woodcutting in f2p and I can definitely say Yews are never worth it to cut. They kind of pick up around 97, but it's just a waste of time otherwise. Stick with willows, and you'll be over with the nightmare that is Woodcutting sooner rather than later. Stick to another skill if you want money, trust me, Woodcutting isn't the best out there. August 9, 200916 yr For f2p its one of the better ways of making cash. Yeah. In fact, it's the about the only way of making cash that requires only REASONABLE levels (don't say 85 mining is reasonable) other than merchanting. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!

August 9, 200916 yr Yeah. In fact, it's the about the only way of making cash that requires only REASONABLE levels (don't say 85 mining is reasonable) other than merchanting. Merchanting. Mining Clay. Turning Clay into soft clay. Yews. Great orb project. The anchovy pizza thing. 25k tricking. Killing giants, collecting bones (only for fast reflexes people) Theres quite a few decent ways of making money in f2p. Most of which have minimal requirements, Yews are popular because they have "relatively" high requirements, giving the illusion of good cash, require less banking, less skill, and less concentration than some of the other methods. O.O

GOP requires unreasonably high levels. 25k/whatever tricking is illegal. It's going to be banned sooner or later so it shouldn't be counted. Killing giants and collecting bones is stupid because f2pers need the prayer xp which is ABSURDLY hard to come by. I can probably level up combat 2-3 times before my prayer levels up. And because of the lack of potions, you'll have to have more than level 43 prayer. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
August 9, 200916 yr Yews were "good" for cash because of bots. For the average player, they are subpar.

Giants aren't bad if you go in there, kill giants, run out and bank bones, and go in again. I didn't mean actually burying them. O.O
