You can see the payments by clicking farming in your stat screen and then click on the icon for the tree/allotment/... you want to have protected and its shows the required payment in your chat screen, no need to go visit online guides.

Anyone else have problems getting apples?

I'm growing some Apple trees but I was hoping to get a few cycles of willows in before they finish but no one is selling apples in GE. is there an easy way to get apples that I'm missing?

Do you have access to the Culinaromacer's Chest? If so, you can buy them there. The number of them available depends on how much of RFD quest you have completed, and of course if someone else has recently bought them out.

Just keep an eye on your prices and keep updating them to max whenever you get the chance. I buy mine already in the basket, and I get enough to support my willow trees. (15 per day)

No I've been avoiding that REALLY long quest.. I should just do it.

I world jumped until I had 25 from the cooking guild. that's only one cycle worth.

I've had baskets of Apples maxed out all day in GE haven't got any yet.

But I should get some from my trees tomorrow, even though I have no idea how many apples I would get out of my trees.

Willow seeds are so inexpensive that it isn't a big deal if one dies anyway. You can just supercompost and let 10% of them die.

That certainly is an opinion that I don't share. I don't let anything die.

Dunno if it's true for everything but certainly with yews you are better off not paying. Someone did all the maths and the 1 in 10 loss of a seed was less than the 10 x farmer payments.

perhaps because the payment is used a a high potion second, but since I harvest my own cactus spines, I use them every time. I would never purchase a payment, but I'm not letting a tree die, either.

Think of how much you would get selling those 10 x spines. Far more than the cost of 1 yew seed.

Yeah...all the money I could get...then need to spend later on to buy them back when I need them for potions or protection for yews. I don't sell stuff like that. Not sometimes...not at all.

I would much rather go back to check the health of a tree that I am assured to get experience for. If it dies, I have lost time AND experience.

I second this...time is money and it can be experience, as well.

Look at the maths:

Yew Seed = 89k

Cactus Spine = 4.3k

So 4.3k * 10 = 43k per tree.

43k * 10 yew trees = 430k in cactus spines.

Only one of those 10 yew trees is going to die, so you waste 342k in protecting them for the sake of 7k XP.

Infact, you can afford for 4 out of the 10 to die before you actually lose anything monetary.

Sure it means you have to get the XP at another time, but farming isn't the sort of skill you can power train anyway so what's an extra week if you are getting 99?

You just need to think of yews as being worth slightly less xp on average than they normally would be, that's all.

FYI, cactus spines are easy to sell, very valuable, and not worth using for herblore, so you're absolutely better off selling them. Just use the money to buy more seeds or whatever.
