August 11, 200916 yr I bought my SGS last December for about 42M. If we can expect a "back to school" crash like last year, I may be able to profit big time. I need people with more experience with the rares and expensive items to answer this, because I could live without it for a month if it's going to drop 10-15M. Bottom line: Sell it and buy it back, or just keep it? Thanks 5,693rd to 99 Slayer on 10/08/2009
August 11, 200916 yr Normally, I'd say sell it; less people on = less demand = lower price. But with the advent of price manipulator clans, I'd be wary. Granted, the SGS is very expensive and would be hard to manipulate, but you can't be sure of the number of people at the leaders' disposal and the amount of gold they have, your SGS could get sucked up, only to be manipulated and cost you more. Of course, conversely, less people on means less henchmen. If you feel lucky, play the market, but that's about as much advice as I can give you. If it were me, I'd say go for it if you really needed the cash. Most people who have a sgs have like 50-100 mill, so losing 30 or 15% of your total cash isn't as bad as it could be. But if you have around 20 mill, go for it.
August 12, 200916 yr You got it cheap why sell it? Just keep it i'm sure it wont fall below 42m. Actually, I bought mine before the end-of-summer crash last year at around 58m. It dropped to 38m, and I ended up having to sell it due to running out of membership. [hide=Stats][/hide]"One death is a tragedy. A million deaths is a statistic."-Joseph Stalin
August 12, 200916 yr You got it cheap why sell it? Just keep it i'm sure it wont fall below 42m. Thats a bit... weird. Usually people dont sell something because they got it at a higher price, so as long as they keep holding it, they technically not losing money. Anyway, it happens last year and the year before, the chance/risk of it going to crash before Sept is quite high I'd say. But it all comes to you want/able to risk the risk or not. August 12, 200916 yr Do you need it? if so: keep it. Saves you the trouble of buying it back with the risk of paying more. If not: sell. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...
August 12, 200916 yr Well think about it people, If he sells now, then buys back once its crashed-even just a little bit he can potentially make an easy 5+ mil. The only problem is the market is so hard to predict. When do kids in the northen hemisphere go back to school anyway?

August 12, 200916 yr When do kids in the northen hemisphere go back to school anyway? If we are talking about college students, its about end of September, but middle school kids generally start end of august - beginning of September.

August 12, 200916 yr Most of us in college/university go back usually around the first week of September. If you plan on selling, now might a good time to do so. Wait a month or so and buy it back.
August 12, 200916 yr If you use it keep it. If you don't, sell it and enjoy your 20M profit. You could always buy one back later, could you not? It would be a bit farfetched for the price to rise greatly from where it currently is. Unless we see a bizarre update to give reason for a price increase, I say it can only go down. I'm personally not buying any expensive items for another month or two, as I don't really need the items, but I am getting sick of my cash pile just sitting. I could have items and lend them to friends. I just don't want to lose money for being thoughtful.. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape
August 13, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the input guys. I ended up selling it for exactly 60M, so right now I'm at a 17M profit on it. I plan on buying it back in a month or so no matter the price, but I'm hoping it will settle around any price that I would profit from. I go back to school the 18th, so around then I'm betting the crash will begin. It happens every year and although using a whip isn't ideal for me, I can't pass up a profit : 5,693rd to 99 Slayer on 10/08/2009

I won't be selling items that haven't increased in price over the past 2 months, though. Just a majority of my bank. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape
