Should the Grand Exchange update at a set time?

Featured Replies

What effects would it have? Good or bad?

I don't really think it would do much, but tell me what you guys think.

Also, why do you think that Jagex hasn't already made it update at a set time? Are they just lazy? lol

No. Setting the update time at a specific time makes the market more susceptible to manipulation. Think about it - if I knew what time item X was going to get updated, then I'd probably buy as much of item X as I could about five minutes before the cut-off, and not in the wash, so it actually counted.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

And the fact that OP is the leader of one of those clans... hmm... :|

The stench of rats - it's overwhelming!

There are price manipulators that wait hours for the grand exchange to update so they can buy there item.

No wai are we making it easier for them.

O.O

I don't really see how any of the things you guys are talking about would be a big deal...

That's because you're one of them.

It makes items easier to merchant allowing clans to have a greater effect on the game.

This allows clans to ruin the pricing in the game far easier which harms the average player.

Me, Jagex and a lot of others never respected or liked merchanting clans so why would Jagex make it easier for them?

If the price is going to rise in the next update, the item is most likely unbuyable or almost unbuyable (you're getting the items very slowly) even at the highest price.

------> Plan failed.

The "real price" (based on supply and demand) and GE limits are different things. If the real price equals GE limits, you are able to buy and sell the item. If the real price is lower than GE limits, you can't sell the item. If the real price is higher than GE limits, you can't buy the item.

Especially updates and suspected future updates can move the real price (=supply and demand) faster than the GE limits can change (5% per day).

Short answer, hell no.

Think about it, if your going on a boss hunting trip or something, you don't want to have to wait around 8 hours for your potions and food to buy. It would make so many people annoyed that having this sort of update would be stupid.

Interesting thought though.

What do you mean? Why would you have to wait around 8 hours for stuff to buy?

I really don't see how having the GE update would have any effect on how quickly you get items.

Ok, so, price manipulation is considered a kind of item scamming, you know, the kind that hurts other players at the benifit of yourself. Granted, Jagex isn't doing anything about it now, but the day will come. hopefully

Staurolite.png

You see, to most non-merch clans people, you guys are idiots who abuse a flaw in the game to destroy the economy and scam a hell lot of people for self-benefit.

Plus, you spam the ge when advertising your clans. A lot.
