Deltaer
Well, I can't tell you the exact numbers either, but I will echo the fact that monks are better xp and money. I couldn't imagine doing sharks to 99.. they're so slow. dragon246665
If you fish sharks to 99, trust me by the time you're done you'll be tearing at your hair.
Dexek
13034431 - 1475581 = 11558850 experience left 11558850/40000 (guess at monkfish xp/hr) = 289 hours, not including banking. At 3 hours of solid fishing daily this would take you over 3 months. Sharks.. you don't want to even think about that. You're better off powerfishing to 99, and then catching sharks after if it's profit that you're looking for. ultimatballr
You can catch about 333 monks/hour and 120 sharks/hour (well I did going up to 98 without any summons or fishing pots) At that rate it just so happens that monk turn out to be about 5k better gp/hour... 333 monks * 495 gp = 164,835 gp/hour. 120 sharks * 1,334 gp = 160,080 gp/hour. 288.9 hours of fishing monks for 99. 875.6 hours of fishing sharks for 99. So not only do you save what... 586.7 hours of fishing you also make more money in that 289 hour time frame you were fishing monks and have over 586 more hours to go about making more than the 140m you would have made with sharks.. hell or spend that time on skills. Just about any skill with the exception of slayer, farming or RC'in can be gotten to 99 (from a decent level 60+) in 586 hours. Correct me if I am wrong... Fixed Apparently, my signature was to big. Troacctid
If you mine pure essence to 200m mining xp, you'll get almost 6 billion gp. It's still a horrible, horrible, horrible idea. The same general principle applies to sharks. Any moneymaker is going to make you kajillions if you do it for a thousand hours. That doesn't make it a good source of cash. (Although I catch them a bit faster than 120 sharks/hr...I typically get closer to 150/hr at 99.)
