Have you ever OWNED a CS representative?

Featured Replies

Today I was helping my friend build a new computer for him to buy, on Dell.com. We called up customer support on live chat, and got an annoying response. As I'm too polite to, my friend decided to own the guy. Results below. :D

Post your adventures with customer support, including stupid comments and your responses (if any) to them.

  • Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.
  • Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.

I wouldnt really call that owning.

I have never tried but I saw an awesome thread on /b/ where people screwed with the Rosetta Stone people.

It was hilarious.

GM car support people in india.

"I am sorry you had that problem,"

"MY CAR IS A PIECE OF CRAP! THIS IS THE THIRD WHEEL BEARING THAT HAS GONE IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS!"

"I am sorrry you had that problem,"

Also GE appliance support people/repair people.

"Oh yeah, we don't carry that on the truck. We'll have to mail it to you and then come back," (we only used the GE people to get the the repair free under warranty.)

May i point you to the great /b/ Fleshlight raid

I wouldn't say owning, but long time ago there was a raid to some website's customer support, and there was quite alot of win. I'll see if I have some pictures of it.

Also, no shag carpet :(.

What's the point in harrassing random people just trying to do a job? As for the example in the OP I wouldn't really consider that "owning", do you seriously expect dell to make sure all their CS representatives know everything about which graphics cards are best? If you really wanna know just look it up.

The Intel graphics card can be compared to trying to knock down a building with a grain of sand.

The nVida one can be compared to knocking the same building down with a spaceship.

So yeah, if he hasn't already found out how awful Intel is, please tell him to go out and get a better card :D

I have a habit of owning telmarketers... It's a cliche that they always call at dinnertime, but it's true. So I like being an idiot to them and giving false answers. Once I got a call and here's a basic transcription:

Callguy: Hello, are you a female between the ages of 16 and 18?

Me: Uhm... Yeah sure [i'm really 19 but it's close enough lol]

Callguy: Well we're doing a sexual survey among teen girls.

Me: *pretends to be into all sorts of things I'd never even try*

Callguy: Uhm... Alright then. I'll have to let you go now...

Me: I had fun, we should do this again sometime :)

Callguy: Uhm... Right... Yes... Goodnight...

*hangs up on me*

I also have a habit of answering the phone with bizarre statements. I got the habit from my partner, who aways answers with "bob's sex shop"... Some favourites of mine are "Jasmine's sex palace, how can I pleasure you?" and "Hello, this is [my town]'s narcotics division, would you like to report a crime or can I supply you with cheap rates?"

Once my mother called my place and I answered with the first statement... I had a lot of explaining to do

*EDIT* I never found out whether the phonecall was a real thing or simply a pervert calling up random people in the phonebook. It was funny though haha :D

I used to to the Dell chat thing all the time at school.

But I'm pretty sure it is illegal.

They use the EXACT same card, intel just adds a couple fans or a bit more memory

That's not owning. That's just stating it as it is. Also, to answer your question: no. I avoid customer support unless it's absolutely necessary. It's just much less of a hassle that way.

I agree, it's pretty pathetic really.

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

Lol, I remember a thread a couple years ago about someone complaining to CS because "their router fell off the table and crushed their little sister's cat."

SWAG

Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

I think the emphasis is better put on "you", not "owned".
