Anybody know a good site to start a free forum?

Featured Replies

Well i'm the president of my school's environmental club and i was looking for a good forum hosting site so that i can start a forum and allow people to sign up, ask questions, submit ideas, and all sorts of stuff like that.

i would prefer one that has no ads and has an easily accessible link with an easy to remember name so that people can get to it quickly.

if you know any such hosters, plz post here. or if you simply have a better idea for me to get my club on the web, tell me that as well. thanks muchly...

Free... no adverts.... good luck. When you find one with those qualities that doesnt crash every 10 mins let me know.

you thought about using the phpBB one ( http://www.phpbb.com/ ) It aint ad-free, but it is free, and if you go to www . dot . tk, you can get an easy to remember name for it. Sorry about the spaces in that domain, for somereason it says http://www.dot[LikelyScam] whenever I try to type the actual domain. Don't worry, it is a legit site, it redirects users to your site, from a nice friendly domain, to a not very nice one 8) simple. (I think its probably blocked, cos people use it to redirect people to bogus sites, trust me, the site is clean!)

.tk sucks [bleep].

Go to http://www.freedomain.co.nr/ for free url redirection. It has more options than .tk too but you just get a .co.nr domain.

Invisionfree forum is pretty good. Just send in like 5 bucks and they'll take off the ads.

phpBB by default IS add-free.

The official phpBB forums were add-free for a long time before they decided to put some in for whatever reason :P

And dot tk is a clean redirect. Somehow off with their CS but that's about it :P

phpBB by default IS add-free.

Because TIF does not use an unaltered version of phpBB.

They have modified something like 5 .tpl files in order to have ads on the fourm.

After you install phpBB it looks like this:

No more, no less.

Edit: @topicStarter: Why not ask your school if you can have like 50mb of space for a forum and small website?

Invisionfree are good forums as well.... alot of clans use them....

What kind of trouble?

Most ISP's, atleast in Holland, offer a certain amount of webspace so you might want to check yours.
