I am about to do a waterfiends task and I was wondering would I be able to use guthans without praying or food etc. or can I just use guthans?

Guthans is not a good choice. Their mage attack with rape you before you have time to heal.

You really won't last long without range pray =\. You should be able to almost break even on drops even when you do pray, and the charms are worth it.

I found that you'll have to range pray in the beginning until you get overwhelming amounts of raw shark/lobster drops in which then you can take off the pray and find that you won't be taking too much damage. This is using a Bunyip and Enhanced Excalibur combo.

But bring extra food and pray until they go unaggresive, and collect all the raw food drops. You could try getting better mage def armor. Along with that getting a crush weapon and some decent food to help with healing.

 

 

 

Another thing is get your magic level up. This will help greatly with negating the amount of magical damage you will take.

Stock up on Swallow Whole scrolls and bring 1 or 2 bunyips (depending how long you wish to stay). I bring 10 Sharks and then about 5 Monkfish (monks are eaten when they are aggressive, sharks are for safety). Before Unicorns, I used to bring Guthan's with me and heal on the Skeletons for a few extra kills per trip.

Fire staff is a baaad idea, unless you want to find out the hard way why you shouldn't be alching with a Zammy Spear in your inventory. Fire runes are fine.

karils if u can afford zam spear range prayer i dont use range prayer though and i can still finish 170 fiend task 1 trip well i dont use range prayer 100% at 99 def isnt that bad max ive been hit with range was 15 u could use guthan if u wanted to heal on the skeletons but i wouldnt use EE if u got it

With those, Karils and some food and a bunyip you should do fine. If you don't have a Fire Cape or a Trimmed Skillcape get a God Cloak. With the +3 prayer from them it would help out on prayer when you need to use it. Now you will get hit some, so bring some safety food incase you get low and are low on your spec bar and unable to use the EE.

I was saying to buy the god cloak and see how well that will help, that is if you plan on praying some. If you don't plan on praying that much then don't worry about it.

You don't have to do a waterfiend task in one go. I never do.

 

 

 

I just go to restock when I finish a single superset (4).

 

 

 

With the games necklace it really doesn't take long to restock.

 

 

 

It means you don't have to fill your inventory with pouches, prayer pots etc and have more space left for food and drops.

 

 

 

They will hit hard no matter what. Even with 99 defense. Sometimes you get more lucky than other times and you can get away with not using range prayer. Sometimes not.

 

 

 

But if you break up the task in several legs you usually don't get into problems (when using proper setup and bunyip scrolls for eating raw shark and in urgent cases lobster).
