Hows my Barrows setup?

I've started barrowing again now barrows is actually worth something. :lol:

 

 

 

Forgot my old setup, but started a new one.

 

I've done about 30 chests, and finally found an invo and setup that works...

 

 

 

 

I mage the 4 melee brothers, then i use up my dss spec between karil and ahrim whilst ranging ahrim and maging karil.

 

I use my dragon scimmy for kc, but am now wondering if my dds will suffice...

 

 

 

I can comfortably do 4 chests per trip with it.

 

 

 

However i wondered if there was any other method/setup i could use to get more chests per trip or basically minimise costs.

 

Also thinking about replacing scimmy for holy wrench and broad bolts for adamant diamond bolts.

 

 

 

Any input appreciated as long as you know what you're talking about.

Use Dagon'hai instead of Mystic. Same stats but Dagon'hai gives a small prayer bonus too

Again, depends on his attack level.

 

Anything under 80-85 and it's highly NOT reccomended to whip/scim karil

 

Darts can be sustituted for the bolts though

 

They can be used to poision and hit high, very often

For low cost use a black salamander, it hits higher then slayer dart and is cheaper by almost half the cost. For very fast kills go with claws of guthix and void mace if you have the charge spell it destroys with the new update for it. I can kill the melee brothers fast enough so that I don't eat or need prayer with claws of guthix. Why are you maging karil? He's range which means he's strong against mage, just melee him. I only bring a dds and it usually is all I need to get the kc. The set up looks fine, but I've never used a mystic robe top there I always just used full prossy or verac so I can't really say much on the set up.

Okay, a big thing here is that how often you hit on the barrows brothers is not proportional to your magic attack bonus.

 

Thus, this means that even if you have -989809 magic attack, you'll hit the same as if you have + 5454.

 

So get rid of the mystic and add a high defence armour. Something like torag works great.

 

You will not have to pray on most of the brothers this way

 

I just looked at your stats, 85 attack? Definitely use a whip/scim to kill karil rather then magic dart

For torag and guthans ya I meant tanking with no prayer but if you wear your set up you might want to pray on them.

How do think i would do if i tanked them all, using melee? Does this work at my levels, or is whip too inconsistent/defence too low?

If you wanted to Tank, I'd maximise defence.

 

 

 

You can either use Rune or Barrows. I'd reccomend Barrows.

 

 

 

For the shield, I normally use a Rune Defender. Essentially, you should do Dharok (pray) > Karil (pray) > Ahrim (use leftover prayer) > Verac (leftover prayer if you have it) > Torag (tank, unless by some miracle you have leftover prayer) > Guthan (tank, seriously, you won't have leftover prayer here.)

 

 

 

As for your inventory, you only need 3 prayer potions max if it's 1 trip per run, and take dragonhides for Ahrim.

Ever thought about tanking while maging? Can reduce costs massively. Wearing maxed melee defence, with a good shield. I used to do that when i was around your defence level. Basically, wear anything you can to increase defence, and the staff of your choice for your spell. Take a bow and dragonhide for ahrim. Mage all the brothers without praying, and range ahrim. Wether or not you pray against ahrim is up to you, as it can stop him lowering your defence. Even dharok is easy to tank, i've found he has the accuracy of a banana :) In his crypt, fight him on the north side of his tomb, then if he hits, run to the south side and trap him on the north side of the coffin.

When I go to barrows, I wear veracs and use slayer dart. I fill up my prayer beforehand, pray protect on dharok and karil, and the rest are easy. Bring 1 p pot just in case your tunnel is dharok or karil, but most of the time you won't need to use up a pot at all. It'll save you a ton of money, especially with the high prices of pray pots these days. Oh, and to keep from needing to pray against ahrim, it's a good idea to bring some dhide to wear too.

mytic top to prossy chest, guthix book to zammy book and rol to seers or explorer's ring 3 and Imho you're golden

 

EDIT: you should do karil second as you'll probably want to pray on him. I'd save torag and maybe guthan for last

personally i bring a black salamander and side-step all the melee brothers in their crypts. I use one dose of prayer on karil and any remaining on ahrim.

 

 

 

If a melee bro is my tunnel i'll sidestep in the chest room.

 

 

 

Did they get rid of the sidestepping with the latest update? I haven't barrowed for a few weeks.

I would say only bring 1 or 2 prayer potions, and replace your armour with high defence armour.

 

Slayer dart hits well even with a negative mage bonus.
