Ezkaton
For a good few months now I've been going for 99 defence as my first combat stat then I'll be going for about 80/85 in attack and strength. So now looking and considering what I'm going for I have some choices to make. I bought myself a DFS when it crashed down to 17m not long ago and I've loved the shield ever since, it has been great, fun, and just epic looking that I was extremely pleased with it and keep thinking that no wonder it was the first ever piece of expensive RS stuff I wanted to buy. So ever since I bought this epicwin of a shield I have been monitoring the GE and the BCP/Tassets. Now I have some options open: 1. Once I get 99 def, sell the DFS and buy a BCP and Tassets (by the time I'm 99 I should have the ~11m difference) and use a defender and weapon of choice. 2. Once I get 99 def, keep the DFS, buy the Tassets, and go to BA until I emerge successful with a Torso. 3. Get 99 def, keep DFS, buy BCP, buy Dragon Legs. 4. Get 99 def, keep DFS and Torags and stay happy with amazing defence bonuses. So there we go, if people could give their own opinion about the options or even give me more options I'd be very grateful. Cheers, Ez Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.2672nd person to reach 2496 total. Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D
Norriie
I'd stick with the 4th option. Bandos is nice but not necessary, and the extra money is probably better off being spent training skills, in my opinion ;P [Click for my blog] [hide=Drops & Achievements] 99 Hunter: 4/30/09 99 Cooking: 6/2/2009 99 Attack: 6/9/10 Dragon Legs x2 | Dragon Skirt x2 | Dragon Med x3 | Dragon Boots x13 | Dragon Shield Left Half x1Abyssal Whip x2 | Granite Maul x8 | Granite Helm x2 | Granite Legs x1[/hide]
Bladewing
5. Sell the DFS, keep Torag's, get a defender. Use cashpile to pay for other skills. How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
Gin_and_Tonic
I'd keep DFS, get a Torso and buy Dragonlegs, then just keep the excess. Then again, it depends on what you're killing.
yuyu13
Get Torag's and rune defender. Use the defender for training, and keep the dfs fer gwd and such. personally, i'd sell it, but i know how much u love the shield =p
shooterbob7
2 because fighter torso has same str bonus as bcp and you have 99 def so a little less def bonus wont matter.
1wngedangel
I personally don't think anyone should bother with tassets. The defense bonuses between them and dragon legs are tiny (like +3), and the strength bonus isn't worth the ~15m extra. I'd go with #3 and disgree with shooterbob; my defense is 99, and I still notice a HUGE difference between BCP and torso, probably because BCP beats torso by around +40 in every stat (lets not forget the huge +60 difference in range defense). aspeeder
Personally I would go with one, because it has been proven that the defender gives better exp/hour than a DFS, plus the fact that you kill monsters faster means you take less damage overall. Although there is probably a better use of your money (I got bandos when it was around 20-25mil but I still love it ), but if you're just going to keep on training the DFS is not necessary or even preferable. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 32 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 9 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
Mike_Ike111
Sell the DFS, buy a Blessed Spirit Shield, Tassy, and BCP. On all of the monsters that need good defence, use the BSS, while on easy tasks use a defender.
Cptbaker08
Either option 1 or 4. Do not do 2 as the time spent getting the torso you could have done getting other stats up or making money to buy BCP, Tassets and keep your DFS. I depends on what you really plan to do though. But for average training a Rune Defender will make more exp/hr then a DFS, unless you are at Green Dragons. gspbeetle
Instead of BCP/Tassets, why dont you consider buying a saradomin sword/bandos godsword? Yes, you can kill most stuff with a whip/leaf blade sword and sheild, but when it comes to something weak to crush like fiends... mister_moocky
I'm confused why you're focusing on melee gear with terrible melees. Train up your range, buy some armadyl to go with your dfs, and make the best cash in runescape at armadyl godwars. If you plan was to get 99 defence then train attack and strength you just watsted a LOT of time. quit
