September 15, 200916 yr It makes sense to me. Obviously the person who said it cared enough to comment on it. If that person actually couldn't care less, it would have been completely ignored. It reminds me of the joke when someone asks you how you feel about something, and you reply "Give me a few minutes and I'll care less." or something like that.

September 16, 200916 yr Where did this come from? Quite clearly the phrase should be 'I couldn't care less'. 'I couldn't care less' means like; "oh, what you said is so disinteresting that there is not a single thing that i could care less about" Wheras 'could care less' means like; "oh, i could care less about what you just said, therefore it could be anywhere on my list of things i care about other than the bottom" it really grates on me for some reason. Why and when did people drop the n't. to give this thread slightly more discussion value, please add your own sayings that have changed and no longer make sense, but first and foremost, help me get my head around 'could care less'. I couldn't care less about this thread to be honest. Actually i don;t even understand why i decided to post something. I wont smoke it if the name ain't rightMy haze is looking like its been in a color fight.Guess we are smoking on Picasso, light it up, ignite the spark.Man it feels good to be smoking on fine arts.
September 16, 200916 yr Couldn't care less = There is no way you could possibly care less about what's being disscussed. I could care less = Plain effing stupid. You could say this is you loved it, hated it or was neutral towards it.
September 16, 200916 yr Oh wow, usually I never get annoyed over little grammar things like this, but jeez. This is one thing I absolutely to hear. I don't understand why people say it, I mean do you listen to yourself speak? Eight Bananas, MD.

I don't understand why people say it, I mean do you listen to yourself speak? You seem to have forgotten a word, do you read your own text? :D OT: Yeah I've never understood why people say that. quit
September 16, 200916 yr It really annoys me when people say 'I could care less', things like this don't usually bother me, but I can't stand 'I could care less' (Saying 'L' instead of 'lol' also annoys me, 'lol' is already shortened enough :P )
September 16, 200916 yr because you are fly? Yea, and this just seems like a stupid thread....so i couldn't care about less about this thrread. September 16, 200916 yr Author Sorry, I will ensure that in future I will start threads suited to the lower IQs such as yours.
September 16, 200916 yr I could care less. My lack of care is of such magnitude that I can't even bother to reduce my level of care. That's right: my apathy for your situation is so great that I could not push another thought about it. Even if it was about how much less I care than I did a few moments before. ^My attempted rationalization. But I don't want to go among mad people!Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."
September 16, 200916 yr because you are fly? Yea, and this just seems like a stupid thread....so i couldn't care about less about this thrread. At least you say it right  But this bugs me, as well. I actually had an argument (nothing too excessive, of course) about it a couple of weeks ago. With my aunt. She ultimately lost, though she'll never admit it.
October 6, 200916 yr It depends if you can't care less because you physically can't (bottom of list) or you emotionally can't (it would break my heart if I did or could).I think most people tend to do the latter. I do the former for sheer practicality.
October 6, 200916 yr Bang on with the "couldn't care less" I think "could care less" means that while it is low on your list of concerns, there are things you're less concerned about "Probably the worst thing I do is take bubble baths. But manly ones." No matter what the avatar looks like, I'm male
