Hedgehog
For all intensive purposes, the problem is likely to steam from people thinking more in "spoken language" then weather what their typing actually makes sence - maybe it would of had the same affect on me if I were a native english speaker. Irregardless, the topic does peak my interest. For all intents and purposes, the problem is likely to stem from people thinking more in "spoken language" than whether what they're typing actually makes sense - maybe it would have had the same effect on me if I were a native English speaker. Nom
I. Hate. This. Expression. I have never once heard someone say "couldn't care less." Always "could care less." How hard is it to think about the meaningless words spewing from your mouth? Gah. Rant over. What is with people's block about these things? (No offense to Azvy, I know English is a second language.)

I think "pique" works better than "peak" in that context, but other than that bravo. edit: Actually, "bravo" is too flattering, since you basically proved you have the grammar skills of a 9 year old. A slight but firm kudos will do.

obfuscator
I've always understood the using of that phrase to be a grammatical misinterpretation of "I couldn't care less". It does annoy me, though I try to ignore it, seeing as no one tends to listen. I do think it reflects badly on education systems that people use it wrongly and can't use common sense to figure it out. Althalus
I'm a bit confused by your title as I've never heard someone say "I could care less." If I ever did it would probably fall under the same category as "I'm not going to lie." I don't know how this became popular but it makes no sense. Why would you tell someone that you're NOT going to lie? Example: "I'm not going to lie, I loved that song!" Seriously, the sentence would've been just as effective if you just said you loved that song. No need to tell us that the statement wasn't a lie. It grinds my gears when I hear people saying it. angryjoe
Why does it say angryjoe is Temporarily Banned but he's posting here? because i am a martyr, abusing idiots for the good of the forum. oh and for another slightly stupid bit of language - refried beans, how dare anyone insinuate that they have been fried twice. Apparently re means well in spanish, hence well fried beans. However that is more of a mistranslation I suppose. But still, it shouldn't have become the norm! doomy
I always thought "I could care less" to be said in a sarcastic way, so kinda like they could try find something they could care less about but it wouldn't be easy to find. Makes sense in my head. Doomy edit: I like sheep
