83 Slayer or 85 Slayer?

I have been working at Slayer for years (on and off slaying), and recently, I've been driving towards my goal of 85 slayer, partly for prestige, but mostly for profit. But are spiritual mages (83 slayer) even more profitable? So....which should I get, 83 slayer or 85 slayer?

 

 

 

note: I do not have excalibur (e), sgs, or any godsword. I will most likely be slaying them with whip + dds once I get 83 slayer.

Both are good for money, but they both have their pros and cons. Killing just spirit mages for d boots will cost you a little extra with the prayer pots you will have to buy and use. Killing Abby Demons will get you a higher priced drop, but the drop rate is a lot less. TBH you cant say that one is MUCH better than the other because it comes down to one thing: if you are lucky or not.

 

 

 

I would say slay to 85 for Abby Demons. You will make money on the way to it and gain some levels. Thats only if you like to slay a lot though.

Mages are more consistent money in my experience (even with the cost of potions), since you're likely to get at least two an hour if you do it right. Also they're really good ranging (and melee) xp.

 

 

 

However, abyssal demons are much more relaxing (you do not need to pay constant attention; there is no risk of prayer running out), and demons drop charms. I'd say just go for 85 (it's not too much more experience), and then you can kill whichever you prefer on a given day.

To be completely honest. . . Kill Green Dragons for cash. Do Slayer because you enjoy it. Camping for drops isn't that great.

 

 

 

Mages drops Dragon Boots, runes and Pure Essesnce. Nothing else. And the drops vary. Average is 1/210 or so. Slaying you get about one per task.

 

 

 

Demons drop them in about 1/300, don't remember the exact number i heard. They also drop other thigns such as decent runes to alch, magic runes to sell, Pure Essence, and charms for summoning.

Bladewing: Hmm....you've got a good point: more money on the way, and the exp is a nice bonus (for 85 slayer vs 83). I may have to slay again for cash due to my con addiction (oh so good, but what a money loss...)

 

Cptbaker: Whoa, I had no idea the drop rate for whip was so high (you're sure that number is from after the last slayer update?). And also, I see your point...abby demons sound like more reliable cash, with nice whip drops on top :thumbsup:

Drop rates for me have been on average about 110 and 650 kills per boots and whip, respectively. I believe I'm just a little unlucky with whips, and I believe their normal drop rate to be about 1:500-1:550. The mage drop rate is about right. :thumbup:

Like said above, Mages are good flowing money. Boots drop often. A possible 500k cash an hour is easily made. If you pick up all the runes and p ess dropped aswell you could make an extra 100k in that hour. Abby Demons on the other hand, or from my point of view, are one of the best wait of collecting crimson charms and getting decent drops at the same time. In the end it all does come down to luck though. Only difference is that havig a bad day at Mages will result in very little profit but having a bad day at Demons could still result in high profit due to the large number of Rune items dropped.

I just got 83 slayer a couple days ago and mages aren't that great to tell you the truth.

 

 

 

Go for 85 and maybe you'll get some boots along the way.

If you're referring to killing Saradomin mages in the main room that are engaged in combat... you kill these far slower and actually make less money than using prayer on the Zamorak mages.

90 is not bad as I seem to get at least one darkbow per task (honestly, I've gotten two quite a few times)

107 d boots and still going strong.I don't know why people complain about pray flicking to be hard work(I understand that the latest updates messed it up a bit) but you are at the computer anyway.
