What Effect Will MechScape (Stellar Dawn?) Have On The Clan World?

With Jagex's new confirmation that Stellar Dawn will not be like other MMO's, with no skills to train or experience to gain, I think a mass of RuneScape players will move to Stellar Dawn, should it prove satisfying, epescially with the growing dislike of Jagex's RuneScape team. The questions I want answered are:

What effect do you think Stellar Dawn will have on RuneScape clans? Some clan members wil lleave, some clans will slump, but I believe the hit won't be that big.

Will clanning in Stellar Dawn be much different then in RuneScape, or other MMO's? With what Jagex said about how you gain xp by "exploration", yes, I can see it different, maybe clan might try owning different planets, or something like that.

Its difficult to say, and really depends on how the game is. I think it's reasonably certain the players will switch over, which obviously will result in fewer members for clans. Coupled with the fact that very few new people enter the clan world (or at least the top clan world) it makes the future very worrisome.

Too early to tell - we know next to nothing about the mechanics of the game.

I can't see top clans doing this, although smaller clans might.

Don't know too much about the game. It should definatly suck out some runescape players that are possible recruits.

Should be completly different. I doubt you will have a rune scimmy and a staff to tank with.

Sounds even worse than Mechscape. I think it will have some effect in the manner of ripples but I doubt it will be a huge splash in the pond except for the first month or so when everyone JUST has to try it.

I don't think it will have much of an effect at all. Ages ago MMG said it was to be completely different to Runescape, but i guess clans could still lose a fair few members. :ohnoes:

No doubt lots of people will go to try it out,but a lot of time has been spent building an rs character so I would imagine people will still play rs,

Just like World of Warcraft weeded out some of the veterans (who were due to leave anyway), so will Stellar Dawn, though less in comparison.

 

I'm personally not too bothered. It'll be neat if clans can find a way to branch clans across games...but I don't see that happening nor being very successful.

The top 20 clans are not the clan world--they're just the people we like to watch the most. The top 20 clans would not exist if there weren't smaller or middle-sized clans fuelling the growth cycle. How 'bout branching your explanation a bit more, I'd be interested to hear it :) (If that comes off the wrong way, I apologize. I'm trying to prompt discussion and I can think of no better wording.)

I think he means that the top 20 clans are fairly stable and take rs seriously and truly do care where they are ranked. They may loose a few members but in the long run they'd probably be more succesful just in RS. Also the time put into your RS character as some one else stated would definatly hold back some people after a while.

Ok, I'll elaborate.

 

In my opinion, considering the whole clan world, Stellar Dawn has a big chance to take people from small clans from RuneScape that want to try out the new game, it's only natural. And as a whole clan world it can do some damage, but nothing too serious in my opinion. I think the damage will be done to clans like the clans that post here on TIF regularly, the smaller clans that have great communitys. I say this because if you look at the top 20 RSC clans, you see clan dedication. You think someone in VR would leave RuneScape and VR to try a new game? Okay bad example seeing as they ended in 10 minutes the other day, but you get the idea.

 

Whereas, smaller clans may seem to have high levels of dedication, but it's nothing compared to staying at a PKRI for 6+ hours losing Rune sets. I think the smaller warring clans will be fine, there probably will not be any migrations from RuneScape to Stellar Dawn completely, but I'm guessing some people will, and 5-10 people leaving a small clan would affect them much more than a top 20 clan who have members that truely want to stick with their clan through thick and thin, and in the long run will end up being fine. Unlike the small clans, who could slump, even die.

 

The biggest losers from this are Community Clans and perhaps Skiller Clans. I say this because you're bound to get more people from there switch to this new game, breaking the community into parts; the RuneScape side and the Stellar Dawn side.

 

I guess we'll just find out though, I know for sure that I'll try it, but definitely not migrate to it from RuneScape, which is the case for many a clanner.

I'm sure that many clans will do both. I wouldn't think that they would abandon RuneScape that easily...
