October 17, 200916 yr Alright, a little background.I'm pure F2P, 92 strength and 80ish magic. I used to love to go on PvP worlds, and pk with magic. It was very simple, really. Pick someone in full rune, and start blasting them. Wear them down, and finally they'll realize that their full rune gives me a huge advantage, so they take it off. Lull them into a false sense of security, they'll lax on their eating (eating at, 18-20 hp rather than 24-26). Pot, prayer, and B-ax or 2h them with a high chance of success (I hit up to 30, so a 1/3 rate of pk with one shot). This worked. I could switch from staff to 2h with one click, a huge element of surprise for my opponent, they can't eat in that time frame. Now, with the new setup, I have a staff, but auto-cast is used through the magic interface. If I switch from a staff to a 2h, I get a message "Not enough runes to cast this spell" repeatedly, until finally after the 4th or 5th time it realizes I want to attack with my 2h and not magic. The only way to get around this is to turn auto-cast off, and then switch to a 2h, but even then it takes one time step to do that, and all the time they have a chance to eat up. Before I could PK with F2P magic. Now I can't, because they took away the finishing weapon option. 99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me! ♪♪ Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thoughtHave some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself ♪♪♪♪ And I'm not doneAnd I won't be till my head falls off ♪♪
October 17, 200916 yr Yes, I noticed this at barrows. What they should of done is make it turn off when you switch to a melee/range weapon. BOO
October 17, 200916 yr You could try manually casting, then right as you begin the cast animation, you switch menus readying for your surprise 2hd.
October 17, 200916 yr Clicking on an attack style removes autocasting. 1. Right click the melee weapon.2. Press F5.3. When the time is right, click wield, then click your desired attack style. It's just like using a special attack, it isn't a big hassle. It's just like using a special attack, it isn't a big hassle. Just tried that for two hours, could never get it to where it was (I've missed an attack turn about 20 times now... 1 pk total instead of the 4-5 I would normally have, and that's only because they didn't eat at 25hp, and with a B-Ax I hit 0,0,then 25. Go figure.) Anyhow, to add insult to this, I died because I didn't eat after spam clicking a swordfish - but I don't blame that on this particular update, just the game engine. On each one something needs to happen. 99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me! ♪♪ Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thoughtHave some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself ♪♪♪♪ And I'm not doneAnd I won't be till my head falls off ♪♪
October 20, 200916 yr Wow, I've never really thought about pking in f2p like that with magic. Yeah, I agree it does suck now that it's been changed. ~Fire cape achieved at combat lvl 80~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~

October 21, 200916 yr Double click attack. There shouldn't be much of a delay at all. The first click gives the message you need x runes the second will attack. Its only 2 clicks. Your lucky your F2P if you try to use a special weapon no matter how many times you click it won't perform the attack until you manually untick the spell. I completely argee it needs changing so the moment you switch weapons it removes the auto cast. This with the enchanced range of the DK's makes maging them extremely annoying as I use guthans and SGS to heal. Guthans is just a double click, but sgs take about 5 seconds to switch the spell off then reenable the special. October 22, 200916 yr It seems annoying. I don't think it will be hard to fix. Just a few lines of code to remove "autocast" when you switch to a non-magic weapon, like swords, bows, etc. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
October 22, 200916 yr I have to agree, the new autocasting combined with the GODAWFULLY ANNOYING delayed clicks nerfed magic. I also noticed something. Autocasting makes your level-up messages disappear, even when you are not being attacked. I noticed this in Fist of Guthix when getting 56 Magic. October 23, 200916 yr You could try to range when your pking. I'm seeing a lot of people range in Bounty hunter worlds and it seems they are hitting quite high. But ranging may not always work.
