saywuuuut
I stopped playing Runescape over a year ago. I was tired of it, you've heard this schpeel before, but I just have to ask what the hell has happened to the economy? I'm hearing people talking about 76king or something, saying things like "fire tallys (rising)" or "they are merching (blank) item, so prices will rise today". And EP farming? Waaat? And on the rares forum people are saying items are worth over double their value in the GE, and that junk added has to be "rising"? Oh yea, and condensed ore or something? What's that? I've been around since 2003, for some reason I found myself coming back to this game once again after I thought was my final time quitting, and am really digging it again. I just want to know what's been doing, what's been happening. Any other cool/interesting/terrible updates in the past 15 or so months you want to share would be awesome too. Thank you. Birdd
Lol. Good luck man. 76king, EPing, Tricking are all ways to abuse the current PVP system to bring in a ton of generated cash which causes inflation. With the GE, clans can all buy out a ton of an item and max price and make the price artificially go up, which makes said item cost more for the average consumer. Condensed ore is a vein of coal or gold that rarely collapses so that you can basically mine it straight. And junk is stuff that serves very little use in the game but is worth a bit of money so that you can add it to a trade to increase the "value" of a trade so you can get more for your useful item. Read the recent Tip.It times on economics, it'll help. [spoiler=Levels]
acenator
Other than the Suiku_fv's advice, you might try checking out the "3rd age/spirit shields/phats discussion" thread if you want more information on the economy. Just remember, if you come back, this is only a game. Have fun and don't worry about anything RS related. > SELECT * FROM users WHERE clue > 0;0 rows returnedThere's no place like 127.0.0.1There are only 10 types of peoplein this world: those who understandbinary and those who don't.This statement is false.$DO || ! $DO ; trytry: command not found
opeious
Hmmm...thats a long lost of questions <_< anyway welcome back   After Jagex removed Bounty Hunter they added pvp and bounty worlds.. The working mechanism of these worlds are being exploited a lot. Earlier People used to carry 26k and die with that money for a friend, the friend would receive a drop 100k-20m. Then the friend would die 26k and the person would get a drop..This would be repeated till people were out of DP/EP (drop/earned potential or summin like that). Drop potential is like time you spend risking 76k+ in an unsafe zone in a Pvp / Bounty hunter worlds. The drops would consist of Barrow Items, Whips, Furies, DFS, DFH, and other slayer / minigame rewards <----------which caused a lot of opposition for monster hunters (since the prices of those items fell like a rock), So Jagex changed the amount minimum to be lost to 76k and removed slayer /minigame drops to statuette:- (taken from RS KB) "Most of the time, the items your opponent drops will be normal equipment such as you might find or make on an ordinary, non-PvP RuneScape world, but sometimes you will be the lucky recipient of special PvP world equipment. If your drop potential is sufficiently high, you may also be awarded an ancient artefact, which you can trade to Mandrith in Edgeville bank or Nastroth in Lumbridge Castle's courtyard for a sum of cash, according to the type of artefact. Be aware that you cannot trade in noted versions of these artefacts. Artefact Value Broken statue headdress 5,000 coins Third age carafe 10,000 coins Bronzed dragon claw 20,000 coins Ancient psaltery bridge 30,000 coins Saradomin amphora 40,000 coins Bandos scrimshaw 50,000 coins Saradomin carving 75,000 coins Zamorak medallion 100,000 coins Armadyl totem 150,000 coinsArtefact Value Guthixian brazier 200,000 coins Ruby chalice 250,000 coins Bandos statuette 300,000 coins Saradomin statuette 400,000 coins Zamorak statuette 500,000 coins Armadyl statuette 750,000 coins Seren statuette 1,000,000 coins Ancient statuette 5,000,000 coins" As you can see this pumped a lot of cash into the game. Causing inflation and almost double the prices of most of the stuff Graph of Master Wand Now about merching clans:Merching Clans 1Micro Economics of the GEIn simple words, merching clans is a group of people who buy a lot of a specific item off the GE causing a false demand of an item, Causing a Steep Rise when the prices reach the desired amount the sell all their items together for GE minimum, Thus making a lot of Money and crippling GE and Item prices. <-- this is how its supposed to work. Generally its the leaders of the clan who make most money buy dumping(selling all their items on ge min) a day or two before the date of the dump, Thus the other members of the clan i.e. the average runescaper generally loses money in Merchanting Clans. Ambler
I am certain that some of these problems will be fixed in the next few months (76king and merch clans are the main ones) also remember, the day there things are stopped, everyone will sell the items that went up in price, causing a massive fall in the prices, sort of restoring the economy O.o ^^My blog of EoC PvM, lols and Therapy.^^My livestream- Currently: Offline :(Offical Harpy Therapist of the Mad[hide=Lewtations]Barrows drops: Dharok's helm x2, Guthan's helm, Ahrim's top, Hood and skirt, Torag's hammers, Karils skirt, Karil's top, Torag's helm, Verac's skirt, Verac's Flail, Dharok's Platebody.Dag kings drops: Lost count! :wall:4k+ Glacors, 7 Ragefires, 4 Steadfasts, 4 Glaivens, 400+ shards![/hide]
saywuuuut
Wow. Thank you for taking the time to write all that out, it was very informative. Never imagined messing with the wilderness was going to cause that big of an effect. Of course the simple solution would be not to allow a sum of 76k to give you an item worth 5M... keep a scaled range. Are merch clans actually that effective in changing prices? And how will they be stopped?

Everyonedies
The only thing is with the Merchant clans is that most of the time they work like a pyramid scheme in that only the top few leaders of any given Merchant clan make money. Due to the 10k limit per 4 hours on most items they need days to sell off their supplies which are actually bought up by the other members of the merchant clan days before the inevitable crash that any item being merched will face. So most people in the Merchant clan can only hope that when the clan says sell there are still enough non-members thinking its still a good item to buy. Then when an item has dropped back down before telling the clan to buy whatever item the leaders all buy up the supply and them tell the clan to buy up the item but its bought out already by the clan leaders and thus the price rises becuase the clan is now forced to buy the item for max price. And the cycle repeats over and over the leaders get more and more rich while some members make a little money most will only break even and a good amount will lose money. http://www.clanhavok.net/

Yet, the inflation has done far worse than anything in this game. I won't renew my membership until it is fixed...and I move back to the U.S....or they come out with a Chinese language version (won't hold breath).
