Because it'd be rude to have the world end on my birthday! :P Anyways...I'd have to say I doubt this. I've read that someone mentioned that the Mayan Calendar is more likely to 'clock-over' than simply end, meaning that it was simply a misunderstanding that that points to the world ending? Not quite sure on it, but seems feasible. Certain things do look bad, but I think that's simply our outlook on things as we're looking at them from the perspective of so many theories about the end of the world. The Winter Olympics..The Rugby World CupThe Summer Olympics (Which is held in 2012!)
