Hegemony Argument Thread

Featured Replies

Now that empires up, who's for hegemony classic?

Doom, if this is about that heat thing we might aswell forget it.

The hegemony collapsed because of space, when it's in space it's not the hegemony anymore it's a boring sci-fi game.

We should definitly restart on earth.

I would advocate for a Hegemony run by Dusty or Rocco, as long as they are active enough. I figure, if the uber conquerors mod the game, then it'll make everything interesting. Besides, since they're the most principled adherents to the "be reasonable" rule, then they can prove that it works. :)

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

It's going to have to be Rocco, dusty isn't that active.

Or you know you could give Empire a chance....

Grim, I've read it and I didn't like it.

Infact, no mods. Have things decided by majority vote and allow people to say "vote this or I'll destroy your country" like the origional hegemony where the leader had left long ago.

And in this new hegemony let's put bans on crap, I mean - Strange matter (which will allow me to create whatever I want but I'll pretend to use a random numbe generator to make it fair)... No way!)

and let's start in 1960 and have 2 days = a year.

The 1960s...an even more US centered world than now. Every other nation is basically in the crap bin. <_<

Basically, politically no-one is more powerful then anyone - whoever controls America won't be anymore powerful then anyone else.

I think instead of the Borders we have at the moment I believe we should have just a borderless map where people can fill in there own Borders, that'll add a bit of intrest.

The technology should start at 1960, that way it'll take use longer to reach rayguns and all that [cabbage].

Dusty has already said he is not starting another 'Hegemony' while one is active. It is stupid to split the player base.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I SHALL DO IT!

... if Empire fails (which it very well might).

Please Please No Space! How about we pick

a country, but we only get a small area of it, all start with 10m pop, 15000 GDP and 2010 tech. That would stop the "ZOMG I'm china my 1billion man army takes asia In 5 years" crap.

So Rocco's leader de facto unless someone wants his spot.

Trol, I suggest we start with a borderless map and a single circle to significant military ownership

and yeh, no space. I'm sick of sci-fi

Also, no silly combat system. The members will decide who wins based on logic.

We tried that. It didn't work.

Nobody wants to accept that they lost. Ever.

Then there needs to be an easy to understand system.

The OP/mod decides (but then it would be unfair if s/he plays)

Based on a democratic vote within the thread.

Democratic votes...Pffft. They were highly successful in the past...so successful that when anything bad happened it was made to not happen...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I think starting on Earth a third time might be a bit much. Spending the first month sorting out a country's issues AGAIN might get a bit old.

Well, maybe if you picked a different country other then Brazil every time it would be a lot less boring.

edit: Don't you guys get bored the [bleep] with choosing the exact same nation setup every time? I mean...c'mon. New thread, there's the Nigerian Space Empire, Brazilian Empire, Mechos, Terran Federation, and Lichten.

*sigh*

That's why we have the main mod, and a second combat mod, and they both decide who won.

The two mod system is not really agood setup...Everyone disagrees from time to time and Hegemony makes 'from time to time' a daily occurance...

in the origional hegemony they're basically was no mods and everyone was equal, thats another reason why hegemony v2 failed.

Everyone argues, it's all part of the fun.

My predictions for the new game:

Rocco will do a bunch of stupid asinine things, and then backstab people thinking he's being all sneaky

Retech will concentrate all his effort on NPCs then get all flustered when he gets into a conflict with another player

Arch will try to screw up everything everyone else is doing but never actually go to war

Doom will concentrate on being a nation 'ahead of its time', being extremely isolationist and not caring about anything else going on

Sere will try to build a utopia for his people, and attempt to be the diplomat and mediator between conflicts

Dungeonal will mess around with his GM abilities for the lulz

Hex will do bat[cabbage] [developmentally delayed]ed stuff with his people, get everyone mad at him, post some random garbage, and then eventually get kicked from the thread

If Paul joins, he'll go around and conquer stuff, just because

Ross will build a myraid of defensive structures around his planet and never really leave it to do anything, instead devoting all of his resources to building more defensive structures, because 'somebody might attack me!'

edit: Right, forgot about Grim

Grim will smash stuff. Because he's Grim. There need not be any sort of plan behind his actions, or any sort of goal other then to just destroy stuff.

And Mather will try to make alliances with everyone and make sure everything he builds is based off of Stargate. He will also make several references to how great Norway is throughout the thread.

You say that like it is a bad thing...I would have thought making everyone weaker without making yourself weaker was a brilliant way to lead a country...

What this game needs is a Cultural Victory mode!

But yeah, something like that, probably...its why I wanted to hold off Hegemony for a few months, so we could all move on as individuals and be new opponants...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

You forgot me  Though I guess it would go along the lines of :Grim smashes...alot.

None of it is bad stuff, except for Hex's. Those are just everyone's play styles that they've used every game.

Archi, I loved Reading through all off your ridiculously long posts, it was like a story.

But strange matter, that was a real cheat. I mean, that just defied physics and then Ross's, oh don't worry. I'll use a random number generator - Yay! Hit uranium.

Pretty accurate Dusty.

Probably about right. I prefer defensive strategies.

I say we take a vote for space or earth now.

I vote earth.
