My first official Illustrator piece!

Featured Replies

Basically all week I've been opening up Illustrator and trying to learn what everything is and where things are so tonight I decided to my first tutorial to learn how to basically make something in Illustrator. I did this tutorial on how to "Create a Happy Sun Character.." The difficulty was intermediate and the estimated time was 30 minutes to an hour.. It took me about 3 lol.

My happy Sun!

It's only because his tongue is made out of 2 circles. *sigh*

I think you have done a great job following the tut :) My sister agrees that yours is better than the tut one.

I like it. So vibrant. Didnt realise you had to make it from scratch. Then I looked at the tutorial and gasped.

Scale it down. I want it in mah AVVY.

Thanks for all the positive feed back! :)

Hopefully I can get a couple more tutorials in this week and try and make something original w/o a tutorial next week if I'm not overwhelmed with finals.

Yours looks much better. I'd want it for my avy too, but first come first serve I suppose :P

Another Illustrator person! :o

Looks good, your rays seem to tilt inward, not outward. If it wasn't side-by-side with a perfect one, no one would ever notice

Practice making things without meshes and gradients.

I took a look through that tut; its definately designed to take no drawing talent :P

Get good with the pen or pencil, and you can make 40x better things. You can only do so much with the shape modification tools.

Overall, a very very clean piece. Looks great. But for a future one, bust out that pen tool :)

I'm looking into get a pen tablet, hopefully soon, I suck at drawing with a mouse..

The next tutorial I plan on trying though has you use the pen tool so I'll get some practice it with it on that.

Really nice 3D effect. Looks very bright, very clean, very well done.

I'm glad to have someone else on tip.it that works on illustrator to share c/c with.

You've outdone me on a lot of things with this piece. I'm looking forward to your next project!

I didn't mean to be such an [wagon] on my last post. i apologize to you steve.

Ahem, bigger circles and closer to each other is less balls
