October 30, 200520 yr It can do more stuff, basically. Technically, you will find Firefox is better. It has more security, it is mroe compatible, is has useful features like tabbed browsing and a built in pop-up blocker and it is less spyware prone. In general, most people will also say it is better - the millions of users that have downloaded it help show that. The only reason, in my opinion, that IE is more widely used is because it is built into all Windows PCs. "Charm is a way of getting the answer 'yes' without asking a question."

For example, I have an extension installed that will let me use BBCode easily (the formatting code this forum uses), an extension that will let me control my media player from my Firefox browser window, and a chat client extension (ChatZilla), which I also work on as a developer.

It would be the sensible solution, however some people try playing runescape in a tab and then it lags and people moan and blame firefox. October 31, 200520 yr Been using IE for 7+ years now and have never had any major problems. You just need to know how to secure it and run it the proper way.
October 31, 200520 yr IE has many java issues, not the least of which is a memory leak. Swiftswitch is affected by this problem because it is built on IE (using VB). The longer IE, or products built using it, are open (in memory) the worse the problem gets until, in the worst case, you have to kill the process and restart the browser. Usually it just gradually slows down everything you do using more and more resources until it can't continue to run. Firefox is not affected by this problem but it does have its own set of odd behaviors nsuch as once RS has loaded the keyboard input does not move its focus correctly. There are other problems relating to redrawing the active window as well. Because both Sun java and Firefox are open source there is a very active community working to identify and fix reported problems. I would like to see an application, like SwiftSwitch, based on Firefox because it could be used on multiple platforms such as Windows, the Mac and various Linux and Unix flavors.

November 3, 200520 yr hehe......you don't have to necessarily "switch", just try it out and keep your old broswer as well so if you don't like firefox you can always just uninstall it......it doesn't delete anything crucuial to your computer if you uninstall it (I think :/)

You've got some issues, man...Just download it and try it out. You can still run RS in the client as mentioned many times, which is also more sensible. FF will not affect your gameplay then. Now you're just comparing FF and IE for web browsing purposes. People have told you all the benefits of FF with it's better security (or atleast faster patches/updates), tons of extensions, many great looking themes, tabs, and it' doesn't hate css like IE does.

November 3, 200520 yr you know the one thing that I really hate about Firefox? Every time that you update and get the new version, it deletes all of your bookmarks! I find this really annoying....does anyone know how to fix it?
