MC Hammer- You Can't Touch This (Maybe?

I think you are mistaken there, Hammer has sold millions of albums worldwide and was the first hip-hop artist to reach diamond album status. He also recorder some tracks with 2pac, which are yet to be released.

While MC Hammer is often used as a joke example of a "one hit wonder" he certainly wasnt one of them.

thats why I put 'Maybe?' I wasn't sure if he would be considered one or not

Status Quo - Rockin' all over the world

:D

pfft @ the person who mentioned Aqua. I have two albums. They did 'Turn Back Time' for the movie 'Sliding Doors'

And what about Doctor Jones and Cartoon Heros both got into the UK charts. Aqua had 3 number 1's

Oh god, The Final Countdown... Spare me

ooh, Train - Drops of Jupiter, that's a great one, Bubsa.

Doesn't count. Train - Calling All Angels, as I believ eit was called, was a huge hit for a while on the radio. They may have gone away for a while, but aren't one hit wonders.

:!: Did you know that Jimmy Hendrix is a 1 hit wonder?

I suppose that's why he's in the rock hall of fame then?

he was bein sarcastic.

Both where being sarcastic...

I dont think the first guy was being sarcastic. Theres not a way to tell what tone of voice he was using, seeing as he was typing :? But if it was sarcastic, then it was really random.

Ah, perhaps I should have mentioned these were One Hit Wonders in the UK. I gathered Train would be popular over the Atlantic. I also hear Martine McCutcheon is huge in Romania.

@Ryan: "Doesn't Count"? Fine then, your Semisonic one doesn't count. Secret Smile was and still is a celebrated song here.

I was not being sarcastic. Jimmy Hendrix Truely is a one-hit wonder in the literal sense. He only has one song that reached the hit list. I'm not saying he is bad because of that or anything. But he truly is a 1-hit wonder

Random? No, this is a post about one-hit wonders. JH is one that very few people would actually think of, and I believe many here enjoy his one hit, no?

Jeez do you guys HAVE to quote every single reply in one thread? Stretching the boards for no reason and it makes you look like a noob quoting more text than your reply.

Yeah, I think we should state what country we're from when stating one hit wonders.

My bad on that one.

If you mean hits as in chart positions fair enough, but in terms of songs everyone knows, how about Voodoo Chile, All Along The Watchtower, Purple Haze and Star Spangled Banner? All classics that most people know.

How about Witch Doctor by the Cartoons?

There's quite a lot here.

Well he had more than 1 popular song. If i remember right "2 Legit 2 Quit" was another and there might of been a third that i cant remember the name of right now .

And on Roy Orbison with "Pretty Woman", thats a bit like calling Deep Purple a 1 hit wonder with "Smoke on the Water" even though i dont think it charted :?. From what i found "Black Night" went UK top 3 but thats it for Purple. Anyway, "Smoke..." was far from their best song (not even top 3 on the album it came out on) but everyone and their brother knows that riff even if they may not realize who it is lol. And then they have other wellknown songs for those who are familiar with Purple and those songs would be "Highway Star", "Woman from Tokoyo", "Child in Time" etc

Yet even more the point here is how many of these are his songs rather than covers?

Merciful what if I enjoy doing alot of quotes, I find it fun actually. And I'm definately a noob of these forums
