Warning! Safespots Not So Safe!

I just personally witnessed (three times, in fact) someone attack someone else in the top floor of Lumbridge Castle, which is a safespot, as is the entire castle itself. He even explained how to do it, and it is very simple, and can be done at any level, with no items required.

I will not explain how to do it for fear of further abuse. This is NOT leaving the bank and entering a combat zone and reentering the bank. This was moving from the safe area of the bank into another safe area!

It should be noted, however, that the 10 second timer applies to this, meaning that once the glitch is performed you will only be able to be attacked for 10 seconds before the attacker must perform the glitch again, which, if I understand the method, may require fast reflexes by the attacker, and that the target leaves and then immediately re-enters the bank (even though in this instance the entire Lumbridge Castle is a safespot!).

I'd say it's unlikely that you would be killed if attacked, so do not postpone normal plans; simply be wary [albeit a little bit more than usual], as you should always be in a PvP world.

Any warning as to how we can tell which players are doing it? Like is he always doing an emote or something?

Sees to me as though there is a glitch with the 10 second safe spot delay timer then. Stay off PvP worlds then if you are afraid. Jagex will either fix it, or if this is a hoax then it shouldn't matter if you wait a day before going on to PvP again.

It will look like they try to attack you outside of the bank, but can't, before they actually do, once you've entered the bank.

I'm hoping that Lumbridge is an isolated incident, and that this only works when one goes from a differently designated safe area to another.

Just think.. get out your d claws, super set, you don't even have to worry about losing anything. You K0 some unsuspecting guy right there on the top floor and possibly make millions. This could really be abused...

Hmm it sounds like a glitch on BH worlds where if you walk so far south the 10 second timer comes up. :P Unless it's something different. :S

Trying to go outside of a BH world in a BH world

 

Things that will set off this timer:

Potting

lighting a fire

Trying to cast a combat spell on someone manually EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE RUNES FOR IT

And other things which I can't think of. Not sure if trying to cut a tree still counts last I checked it didn't though

 

Its caused by the fact that these areas are made up of 2 separate safezones near each other

I think you've got the reason perfectly figured out - trying to go between two differently designated safezones.

You also, kinda, uhh... Explained exactly how to do it... Which is what I was trying to avoid...

Like I said, unless you're already almost dead, there's not too much danger to this. Just be wary!

I witnessed this happen to someone while I was on a PvP world about to use Prayer Brawlers. - Not that that's too important though...

The person explained out lout to at least 20 other people (thankfully all of them were white, point being none of them were green or red and therefore a high level) at the top of Lumbridge Castle in the bank, and then he had a buddy in full adamant armor test it with him at least three times.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was old, but there also seems to be several people who've posted here who didn't know about it either, so I'm glad this warning at least helped them.

No, its just old to me, I never saw it having any harm until they updated BH and PvP at some point so that you always have an attack option when in a safezone. When I found out about it, what would happen is you would have a timer but you wouldn't have an attack option (which would happen when you weren't outside of a safezone for more than 1 second as well...)

 

But if people know how to do it, people know how to avoid it, and thats what I'm trying to say.

Will people know how to avoid it, though? It sounds like it's possible to trigger this bug accidentally, in which case people can still be caught unawares.
