November 2, 200520 yr http://www.facebook.com/ The Facebook is an online directory that connects people through social networks at schools. I'm guessing it's like 'my space' or something like that.
November 2, 200520 yr Well, it was targeted towards college students to help you find people on campus who you had things in common with and meet new people and such. Then they decided ot do it for high schools, which was a very stupid move in my opinion. They're trying to compete in an already dominated market. They had a good thing going with colleges, should have kept it that way.

November 2, 200520 yr Facebook was one of the first ones. It started with only college students, but they have it for highschoolers now. Dumb if you ask me, they have myspace anyways. Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.
November 2, 200520 yr It's very useful in college, especially when you're just starting out and getting to know people. You know, when you're a noob in college. :D HS facebook is totally lame. I wish they never went that path. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
November 2, 200520 yr Urgh another one! theres so many of these sites around now its really p-ing me off. I get invites to loads of different ones from people ALL the time and it hate them. Full of people pretending to be people they are not onf really badly designed websites. They should be banned. That Christian private school had a good idea, all schools should adopt that same approach imo. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. November 2, 200520 yr Facebook is designed so that friends can keep tabs with eachother from long distances, and to better get to know classmates. I never accept friend invitations from people I dont know (unless they are from my school). It also has a very nifty photo hosting service now. I do not think that the high school one should be used, it is pretty lame. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley
November 2, 200520 yr In order to get an account on Facebook you need a .edu E-mail address that your college gives to you. You just can't use a regular E-mail address, that won't work. They have a Highschool Facebook but I don't know how that works. :?

I like many people just repeated what I said yet no one actually took notice of it

It's very good for keeping in touch with your old middle school friends, and high school friends who went to a different college. And of course, friends that live on the other side of campus, who you can't hang out with everyday. Besides, little teenyboppers can't get into facebook. They only accept certain college emails in registration  ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
November 3, 200520 yr It is a "my space" sort of idea, but with FAR BETTER web design. It's also much more secure - you can't view profiles of people who aren't at your school or already confirmed as your friends, and you can only get in with an official school e-mail address. It's also only for college students, primarily at American schools, though some others have recently been included as well. It's not a blogging tool, but rather a medium through which students can look up useful information about others - like phone number and campus address and whether or not they're single and whether or not they are interested in your gender or not ;). It is used primarily intra-school, not to network with as many people as possible from the outside, unlike myspace and many other similar sites. It's also extremely popular among American college students. In my freshman class of 717 students, there are 670 facebook accounts. This seems like a ridiculously high percentage to me. November 3, 200520 yr Mad, where do you go to school now? I'm on facebook... if anyone wants to say whats up. I think it's great, I've been in contact with people I haven't spoken to in over 6 years. I love it. And I've made alot of new friends at my new university that I wouldn't have normally made. I also like it because people can't put those damned music videos on their page, and mess with the coding. :)
November 3, 200520 yr I also like it because people can't put those damned music videos on their page, and mess with the coding. :) Bonus :D Mmm on closer inspection it actually looks pretty cool. Its a clever idea and really is meant to bring people closer together, kinda like 'Friends Reunited' before it went all commercialised.
