93-99 def<New question>

Well im not much of a camper but i really want to get 99 def since im already so close. I was wondering if i should stick to slayer or just power through the last 6 lvls at az's. I know ill make alot of money with slayer and im not much of a camper but im willing to do whatever i have to in order to get to 99. If you suggest armored zombies could you please give me a idea of how long it will take to get to 99 from 93?

Plus it's still pretty good xp and more fun.

You can do az's when you need to do hw or watch a movie or something because you can afk them.

Slayer=good money and good xp

Az's=bad money and good xp

I guess just do some of both.

The only reason im starting to get bored of tasks is because im stuck on a loop of Skele Wyverns, black demon and bloodvelds and i hate all 3 of those tasks with a passion. I guess ill try to push through this 196 blood task and hope like heck that i dont get another skele wyvern or black demon task.

Az's are great money. And great EXP. If you're at the keyboard full time, it peaks at 120k an hour. Around 70k - 80k if you're paying half attention.

 

Just getting 90s in all melees, i got over 15M in drops. Not to mention all of the charms.

 

Slayer is better in the long run. Because you get EXP in 3 skills instead of 2. But granted it is slower. And you can get junk tasks.

 

But, yes. I agree that a mixture will work.

I agree with the above poster. Slayer will be better for you seeing as you train 2 other skills too (HP and slayer)....... AZ's are very good money and are very good exp, I myself was lured to them and found them to be amazing.... However looking back I really really regret it because instead of being 99 def with 85+ slayer I'll have to get 85 in both attack and strength to get me anywhere near...... Don't make the same mistake I did ;) slayer all the way.

Why? You could range. Or just train defense some more and boost your rank. Anyway, it isn't as if you're going to get slayer any faster by doing it first--you'll just get it sooner. It might feel different, but as long as you're not training past 99, you're not wasting anything.

Why the [bleep] do people judge your combat with slayer level?

 

Slayer is maybe 36k-55k defence xp per hour. Armoured zombies is about 65k w/o piety. Haven't timed in a while but it is ~80k with piety.

Umm you always train HP if you train melee. What link was talking about is with AZ's you train HP and the melee stat, but with Slayer you train those as well as slayer (2 skills vs 3 skills). You get charms from both ways she thats another skill you also train.

Agreed, slayer can be good money, and good exp. And the tasks are different everytime. But you pointed out something about bloodvelds, skeletal wyverns and black demons.

If you are in such a cycle, try to get the task done, hope for a different task, if not, AZ is the way to go.

 

I think you are familiar with the concept of piety praying and such? AZ drop a lot of noted planks and oak planks. And charms very often. So it's not bad money, it's probably a little less money then slayer, or even more.

So i finished my slayer task and got a new one which ended up being 175 black demons to no surprise, after i finished that one i got another one and it was 77 skele wyverns...at this point im just going to do az's as bad as i want to get a higher slayer lvl this loop of tasks is annoying the crap outa me. Any ideas how long it will take me to get from lvl 93(539k from 94) to 99 def at armored zombies tanking no prayer.

I know this isn't exactly what you were asking, but at 93 defence you could just wear proselyte top and legs, with piety on. When I camped there, I rarely needed to restore my health, even without a bunyip. Piety will really speed things up, but I guess that setup would work too. From what I remember, the exp rate was around 90k/hr, as long as you paid reasonable attention. So I'd say you have about 70 hours to go?

yes but the tasks take forever and it uses up alot of supplies to try do 1 single task. I dont have the 100 points to block demons or i probably would have blocked them by now.

I to am planning on doing az's to 99 def now. I did the math and figured out if i kill 566 az's for the next 50 days i will have 99 def. and if you do some more math it's only like maybe 2 hours of az killing per day. now for you its gonna be much less since you are 93 and i'm 85. Just go to tip.it special calcs and go to fighting calc. put in monsters with 85 hp(az's hp) and to lvl 99. it will tell how many you need. now divide the number of days you want to do this into the number of az's you need to kill. that will tell you how many per day to kill.

If you are really thinking of doing Az. You need a salve e to be crazy fast exp. The bonus is just to much to ignore.

Yes, the whole point is that you get to use a salve (e). That's kind of most of the reason they're good.

Don't forget though, it may be a bug and its the slayer master thats giving you the tasks. I known i was stuck in a bad loop until switched to Sumona for a couple tasks. After that i was getting tasks i never gotten from Duradel before. So if you're using Duradel, as you should be, try going to Sumona for a couple tasks. Who knows you may even like her better then Duradel.

yea im currently using duradel because i got stuck on a loop of kurask and turoths with summona but i finally broke the loop with duradel by getting a lucky DD task :P

To be honest that's really the only thing that matters. If you're truly excited about it, you'll probably get it no matter which method you use.

Thx Alex, i am really excited about getting 99 def because its not only my fav skill but my fav skillcape and it will nice to have a cape to wear other than my UT cook cape hehe.
