Void Mage Helm - worth getting?

Featured Replies

Void Mage Helm - is worth getting? By this time tomorrow I should have full range and melee void, so it wouldn't be too much work.

If you say it is worth it, for what uses?

Tank maging avis is one option.

I've used it at rock lobsters and its only slightly worse then ahrims.

In truth get the void mace first as its a lot more useful.

Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats]

It is generally the same as ahrim, though not as good because it doesn't have the def bonus

I've *heard* that void mage is roughly equivalent to mystics, although slightly better. Accuracy is slightly less but one can hit harder.

In what situations is the mace useful? Same as you've already mentioned?

Thanks for the replies, all.

basicly most you're getting is armour from the void set. Remember to have a mage bonus in your ammy, since it will help lots, but it isn't going to help you hit harder anymore.

When I go to barrows, I bring my void set with the magic and melee helmets (I have 99 defence though). I'm not sure if it beats the usual set-ups, but you can try it out to see if you like it or not.

Things I can think of are indeed barrows, but what about maging TDs? I know it is a bit unorthodox.. but hell :) Just another way to kill them right? Seeing magic is pretty precise and deadly now in PvE with all these updates, I can see people doing this.

From my knowledge, void is slightly worse then Ahrim, but then again.. it doesn't bring any repair costs ;) Ahrim is better tough in my opinion.

Basicly: if you need mage + another style of attack, then void is the ideal way. Seeing you don't need an entire set of robes with you to be able to do good magic damage.

Well before a recent update, the void mace was the only item to auto cast Claws of Guthix and was the only weapon to auto cast any of the 3 god spells. But now all can be cast with their respective staff. But along with that update the Void Mace now gives a 10% damage increase when being used, and if you're using CoG it makes the max at 33 if you have 80 magic to cast charge. It also has a prayer bonus which makes it useful at the Dag Kings. I also find it useful when maging Iron dragons or Aviansies.

I recommend against it, as it doesn't really make a significant impact.

Its only worth getting for the costume box. imo.

To add to what Baker said.

The mace has +6 mage attack, as well as the 10% damage boost. It also has +6 prayer, which is quite handy.
