The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)

I'm fairly sure the US government's budget is more than 1% of the total GDP. Although it's safe to go with the 20% of 20% rule if you aren't sure of your budget.

Anyway, the upkeep cost makes sense. I would recommend researching how much it costs to maintain a typical ship and how much it costs to maintain weaponry, armor, vehicles, etc. It'd obviously be easier to maintain a rifle that it would be to maintain a ship because the latter is either constantly on the open sea or in port.

Sere, the 1% is for extra projects. Considering the majority of real life expenses are ignored, 5% of taxes is fairly generous.

How about this:

1% of GDP for random building stuff, and the maintainance thing is part of your original budget, the other 99% of GDP. It's really annoying to keep track of maintainace as part of your surplus, since logically the maintainance is already taking a toll on your budget before the 1% of GDP.

Japan has completed the development of the Type 10 tank, a fourth generation main battle tank, the first of its kind. (It was already in development beforehand before the game began)

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

Not much new for the PRC today, besides that efficient fuel cells for vehicles will be released to the market next year. Slowly fuel cell cars will replace gas, and then eventually for the military as well. Talks continue with Thailand, along with the pro-PRC radio brodcasts across the neighboring countries.

Projects:

Classified project II: (4/5)

Improved missile defense: (1/4)

Research:

Fuel cell: (5/6)

Kinetic weaponry: (1/10)

Annexation:

Thailand: (1/10)

Ahh.

I thought you were referring to the whole bit: national defense, health care, police force, etc.

I'm personally just referring to some stats I found for the current US defense budget.

Japan lands back in South Africa again, with their billions of aid. The tent cities are rebuilt and more funding goes in for permanent housing. Daily radio broadcasts are mandatory, for safety updates and announcements. They also include little snippets of pro-Japanese advertisements and remind the South Africans that Japan is out to help them.

(Gotta get something back in return for Indonesia, so this is not just a continuation of my imperialist policies. I'm simply trying to get back what I had. This is my last annexation, and I hope everyone stays out of it)

South Africa tells Japan to screw off. The Swiss Volunteer army stir up the South African Army who impound one of the Japanese boats, looting it for aid.

(You don't just leave a country without vital aid for a year and then come back in like nothing happen, so you can get the hell away from South Africa and go and colonise somewhere else.)

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

The Franco-German empire sends aid to south africa.

Japan leaves South Africa, determined to expand the home islands to their maximum development.

Wait, it's 1 day = 1 year now? It seems that we've been going faster.

Brazil continues all it's projects, though GDP growth is falling back to just a above real world numbers. Crime rate drops even lower.

We're now focusing on developing advanced helicopters, including lots of anti-missile systems, stealth technology, and so on.

No... Do you ever read the front page?

Stealth helicopters don't work.

A hundred of the SR troops in South Africa have taken back the gold mines from Swiss control, and given them back to the government of South Africa. It also tells Switzerland that any other actions against aid workers in South Africa will prompt equal response from the SR government, and perhaps the UN as well.

The Swiss army didn't do anything but incite the South African Army....However, given that I have lost nothing and gained 300 tonnes of Gold, I am happy to withdraw peacefully. Switzerland is happy that its volunteer core is back.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

You didn't gain anything.

Stealth helicopters don't work.

I meant more along the lines of quieter helicopters. I'm sure it's possible, somehow. If not, oh well.

Happened last year, I gained what I gained.

You didn't gain anything.

--

Here's what I mean:

-You have no soldiers there

-The amount of gold you're saying you gained is more than the entire yearly output of every single gold mine in South Africa

-I bought the gold

Therefore, you gained nothing. The South Africans thank you for your aid and assistance, but are happy the maniac Swiss have left their country.

I had 4000 volunteers there.

Yup, I overestimated, sorry

No, you didn't.

How did 4000 volunteers take over all the mines in South Africa?

Np

Yes. I really did. I made a deal with Retech while he had quasi-control over the South African government. That deal was never cancelled.

I could maybe see being able to sneak out 10 tons of gold, at most. Taking the entire yearly production, with 4000 volunteers, from a poor country, with no Swiss military...no. Your 'aid' workers would get murdered.

What you've essentially said is that you stole 300 tonnes of gold from a country. Even if that were plausible (which it's not), there would be some serious repercussions for that action.

Didn't take over all the mines in South Africa, that would be inefficent. I merely provided aid to prevent the government from collapsing when Japan pulled out.

Japan was not in control so it doesn't really matter...Look, I have had a harrowing day so I am willing to split it with you 100 for me 173 for you.

Serious repercussions like what? South Africa is a strong stable country, it didn't need aid in the first place...Yet somehow Retech managed to give it to them...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Serious repercussion as in South Africa demanding the gold back that you stole, or the UN demanding you return the gold, or some other repercussion.

50 to you, 223 to me. Apparently the deal will take 6 years now. Lovely.
