From what I read from Rune Wiki, null is a glitch where the item name gets replaced with "null."

Not sure what's up with the dwarf head though...

The dwarfhead is the 'icon' of the 'item' null.

If you log and and back on again it should be normal.

- I'm not proud of everything I've done, but I have no regrets

Ahh, I figured as such.

Basically the idea is that if the game attempted to load an object which didn't exist it would probably cause a crash. Instead of loading nothing at all, the default picture of a dwarf head is loaded instead. This is a much safer option as it means that instead of a crash the only problem is that the user sees an odd image.

It's similar to players having "null" as a player name when you right click on them.

An even more amusing version of this is when an item's picture is given the dwarf head. When you drop that item on the ground it turns into a massive 3d version

Null glitches seem to happen all the time, on different Jagex games as well as on RuneScape (had it happen a few times at SC). Never had this before with items in my bank though, I'd imagine opening and closing your bank would sort it.

This has been there since the good ol' days of RS1. I remember logging on at school and seeing right click options like Follow: Null. For a while I thought it was a glitcher who could be invisible and told all my friends to come see the cool guy named Null....ah the good ol days of being a young ignorant child.

Oh, and what Pinkbullet said.

So I guess it's like a backup plan in Runescape? It's run off Java so I wonder if it's along the lines of throwing an exception or something. I am not sure, as I am just a beginner in Java programming.

By the way, in Java, null means:

Null is a special pointer value (or other kind of object reference) used to signify that a pointer intentionally does not point to (or refer to) an object.

FYI you can get null on your cursor if you use bones on an altar (offer all) then right click one of the bones and select use, wait for it to be offered by the offer all and your cursor will now say use null.

I've seen images of the null dwarf before, but I've yet to have the little fellow myself.
