Maybe you've bought out a tonne of them and then you're making a discussion so other people try buy out thus creating a new junk item *head asplosion*

Maybe. But.. it might be... AMULETS OF ACCURACY@#!#

Maybe not, but maybe. :D

Just interested in the economy really, whatever happens a junk item will fill in the space of mint cakes, else the rs economy won't function unless jagex fixes the economy but looking at the rc update, that isn't a realistic hope. :D

Amulet of Accuracy takes all of 10 minutes to get. Create an account, get to the tower, start the quest, have a high level account/friend trade you the necessary beads.

If Jagex can't sort out the pricing system, sooner or later we're going to get something like d2jsp, except for Runescape...

How hard is 1.5K agility tokens to get from that agility place? The hook is 1.5k tokens, right?

Who chooses the hook over the experience though?

That is also why I doubt they would be used to junk trade in large numbers, as there is simply not enough of them but they will always have value because of that fact.

It's 800 tokens, and it will take atleast 13h 20 minutes tho get the tokens which could be used to get 256k agility xp if you get a total of 1000 tokens for the bonus. Assuming that the person normally could make 500k/h the price would be around 7m.

maybe maybe not. If they were made to be the new mint cake i could see them having a street price of 20mil while ge price of 1.5m (or w/e its at).

Still works like a mint cake.

Put up a Hook and 19mil worth of junk and get 20mil cash back from it.

Hell if people accept this as the new junk currency this would be BETTER then a mint cake. With no forseeable jagex nerfs

The thing is, like I said in the post you replied to, is that there just isn't enough hooks to be used widely as a second currency, I still expect them to rise and always be valueable, but I do not think they would be used widely.

Perhaps we're jumping ahead a bit in speculating what the next mint cake might be. Maybe we should develop a list of its characteristics and then see what fits? It seems to me that it has to be:

1) quite hard to get

2) not nerfable by jagex (people won't be up for doing the mint cake thing again)

3) relatively low in price (which probably means it's not all that useful)

The hard one is #2. E.g., what's to stop Jagex from making the mjolnir buyable in a shop? It's got to be something where there would be blood in the streets if Jagex nerfed it. (This is why they'll never nerf edible rares.)

Chef's delight is the new mintcake, go to world 2 and see for yourself.

Seriously? But that is a really stupid choice, you can have a Chef's delight's barrel in your POH and have infinite of them.

You can't take it out of your POH unless they're talking about mature chef's delight which you'd have to make yourself

But you can't put them into a Keg. If you want it in a Keg, you have to brew it yourself.

Gout tuber would be a good choice, just like the mintcake you get 1 as a quest reward and they are also a rare reward from a minigame. This ensures that they have a small flow of new matterial but the price is still low.

It's not a rare item from the minigame, it's just a rare minigame.

Also, if you expose the gout tuber you can bring your friends along and click it at the same time and you all get one. :)

Mature ones are not that hard to make either, you just put two "stuff" in the brewery and it will always mature(90% sure), I can make 8 mature drinks every 24 hours for about 4 minutes of work.

I can't figure out the mature chef's delight thing -- it is pretty easy to make. On the other hand, it takes a long time, and it is really boring -- so maybe. Would it be easy for Jagex to nerf? That's the problem with the gout tuber. If Jagex can nerf the cake, they can just as easily nerf the tuber. I don't think we want the "next mint" since mint failed. We want the new, improved, harder to nerf mint.

Thing is though, merchants will always find an item but Jagex cannot nerf everything. I hope Jagex have a solution to the core problem instead of just trying to hinder the merchants.

This is exactly right. And they do a lot of damage every time they nerf something. Some people had hundreds of mint cakes. They weren't doing anything wrong and didn't break any rules, and Jagex screwed them for hundreds of millions. Some people will quit over this, and I'm not just talking about newbs. Jagex needs to fix the problem instead of constantly treating the symptoms.

Hence, RSjsp...

For those who've never heard of it, d2jsp was a website founded by a third party mostly dedicated to Diablo II and its expansion. It originally started as a place for botters to convene and to share/discuss their software. Eventually, the owner of the website introduced a currency, FG. You pay for it, with real money, and trade it with other users of the site and forums. Other than buying it, you can win it in an automatic lottery system built into the forums, but of course the odds are rigged so on average more FG leaves than enters. PvP communities are huge and mostly composed of those who "squelch" on their bets and make a huge rant storm after.

So you've got real-world trading, scamming, whining, ranting, drama, and everything else in one nice, disastrous, third-party package. The worst part? D2 has gotten to the point where it's ten times more difficult to trade and such in the game chat than on d2jsp. It takes me three hours or more to trade a few gemstones for a rune that I want, but on d2jsp, it takes 5 minutes to sell the gems, and 5 minutes later to buy the rune... with leftovers for the next time I need something.

I really hope Runescape doesn't go that way, but so far, Jagex seems intent on running away from the real problem - that Grand Exchange prices do not correlate to the value of the items.
