TheRealist
Rap. But not commercial rap, I hate that [cabbage]. Like G-unit and the rest of those crackheads. I like rap that has meaningful lyrics, stuff that tupac, Kanye West, etc say. I like some rock. Just no metal. [cabbage] gives me a headache. assassin_696
It's tricky, since both genres have so many sub categories. I don't mind some of the original rap songs, when they had a real message that they were trying to put out, but i now i find rap has become too commercialised, it seems to be constantly made into rubbishy ringtones all the time. I love rock music, i don't really like death rock or any of that crazy crazy stuff where people get killed, but pretty much all other forms, classic rock, folk rock, indie, punk, funk, soft, the Beatles era and all that :) "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
knives669
Rock. Definately rock. I like metal. I love the feeling of going to a live metal show, getting in the mosh pit, and having an awesome time. I don't much care for rap at all, since most of the rap I hear all sounds the same. However, I will give some underground rap a chance, if a few of my friends suggest that I listen to it. I will give just about any type of music a chance. hurl
I'd go with rock, seeing as all I really listen to is metal, rock or reggae, anything except rap, mainly because it just doesn't suit my taste. The other thing is there's no better feeling than going to a festival or a show and just headbanging to your favourite band. :P 123 Combat / 1900 Skill Total / 99 HP / 7x 99 Stats

Zippi08
I prefer both, depends on what I feel like listening to. Although lately, I've been listening more to rock than to rap, and sometimes rap gets boring with just talking.. But yeah, they are 2 completely different genres, and it's impossible to just compare them like this. Thanks for the sig, Runesmithie :)RIP Steve Irwin
balistix0
The categories "rock" and "rap" are really general. I like rock, a couple of my favorite bands are: Panic! At The Disco Halifax hellogoodbye Taking Back Sunday I could go on forever. Some rap is ok, but a lot of the more popular rappers just care about "dem twenny fo's on dat cadillac" or their "bling". And of course, Paul Wall and his retarted smile showing off his diamond teeth, which look disgusting.
KnightLite
I'm so disappointed by the maturity you guys have shown -_- I prefer rock than rap. I have a severe distaste for rap due to my brother's use of he words he gets from the genre. If rap wasn't all about bling bling, garden tools, or killing people, maybe I have a chance of liking it. Not all of it is, it's just steriotyped like that, because to the outside eye, all you can see is some wannabe talkin about some chick he banged. Not all rap is like that tho, you just have to search for the good stuff. - Only character in Runescape History maxed out in RSC and RS2
Mr_Putter
I like rock, because of what Necromagus said on the first page. That it basically takes a lot more musical skill to make rock than rap. Rather than just turn up the bass and spew some lyrics out. All my favourite bands and my favourite sound comes from rock. It's just the better music IMO. But I'm not entirely dissing rap. I was of the haters of it until I played GTA: SA, and discovered Old-ish rap (early 90's rap) which is FAR superior, and is borderline tolerable-good music. Mostly Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. It's pretty decent if you give it a try. Not this modern poop.

The thing is, the majority of the people (teens more or less) take up the shietty rap more than the decent ones which is practically unheard of. I 3 rap for the crap that is in it. Everytime we argue and my brother [cabbage] talks me, I beat the crap out of him while yelling at him not to use those words at me and tell him to stop listening to the disaster of a music he calls rap. I have a sister that is sadly, more likely to be more influenced by my brother. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::

Not all rap is like that tho, you just have to search for the good stuff. just wondering, Is there christian rap? i mean I dont even like christian rock, just kinda wonering that. I'm not trying to say that like, rap is all bad, I know alot of good rap, and I like alot of mix-genera rock/rap stuff. Another point to put out there is that mainstream rap comes from underground rap, everything was once underground, or it would have not come above ground. it all has roots. People say they dont like bands anymore, but they liked them when they ere underground, this is kinda silly, just like the music you like. On the flip side of this, I know for a fact that like, I was a huge greenday fan, I loved them, and I was all excited to get their new album. I got it before everyone did (How? I have no idea!) and i thought it was ok, I listened to it for a while, and decided it was decent. After the radio etc etc, maybe! It was a little other peoples influences (im hoping not i try to stay myself, but its a possiblity) now after a while of hearing them, I cant stand them. So infact, once they did get popular, their music did suffer. As for this. definately no votes for polka tho  Polka. Duh. :P Phil, my dear boy. I like the Drugs, hugs, and rock and roll. dont talk to mad` then :D i chose the latter of the three POLKA FTW! I think Polka is winning personally. BTW, Ive met mad ;) Hugging would be the smallest of my fears with her! C'YEA H0'KAY

timmay929
I'm more into rap. I grew up with an older brother who listened to rap, and when riding around in his car he would always have rap on. So for about 3 years i've been listening to rap. Some rock I can listen to like Offspring, mainly they're Americana album, and Linkin Park since they are a little of rap and rock. But some new rock that has come out these days is pitiful, like Fall Out Boy, Reliant K, Green Day, and My Chemical Romance. I just don't see how people can listen to that, but that's just my opinion. 122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting

Well Well Well, I'm glad someone here knows for sure that emo isnt rock, because of course your right, even if thats an opinion. Pressing your opinion on others as a fact though, yes thats fun, sometimes its cool. So ACDC Is rock why? Led Zeppelin is rock why? I dont know, you tell me. I know one thing though, that emo came from the same roots as punk, and punk came from the same roots as soft rock, and soft rock came from the same roots as metal. Some of these roots are very far off, and now it is hard to tell how they are simular. The fact of the matter is that its all rock, no matter if you like it, or you hate it, its all rock. Its funny, a random fact I know: Cohead and camberan (Spelling?) One of the "emo" bands of our time said on an interview that their main influence was Led Zepplin. What your telling me is that even though Led Zepplin in real rock, the band that worships them, and is more influenced by them, is not? Thats just pish-posh. Open your freaking mind up, just because it doesnt have the rock on attitude doesnt mean its not rock. Dont try to inform us with your petty opinions trying to claim they are facts. I dont flame you for being ignorant, I flame you for trying to push your ignorance upon others. Side note: I'm not a fan of the emo trend, I listen to what I like though. I like some Emo yes, but I'm in no way an Emo fan. Emo for me is like Metal, I listen to the good stuff, I hate the bad stuff.
