Heh, I was wondering if anyone would do something along those lines. I wasn't going to make this exactly like Abhorsen, but I'll accept that as a bonus.

Jen - You pick a box at random off one of the shelves. You open it, and find 20 arrows. They appear to be made of metal, and you can see miniscule, arcane marks flowing across the surface of the arrowheads.

Jen grabs the arrows and goes outside of the main building of the bunker. She looks around (asks around) for a horse or transportation mechanism.

You think better of it, realizing any horses outside the Bunker are probably either dead, or undead.

Jen looks for an undead horse, or maybe some sort of all-terrain moped.

That seems just a bit overpowered. How about +1 to draining magic?

@ Jen - No mopeds, It's a medeival fantasy setting. You wade across the moat of the Bunker, and are immediately spotted by 2 Shambling Revenants. They are a short distance away, and rapidly moving towards you.

Ares goes and checks the supply rooms, taking what he needs.

Jen looses several of her arrows and powers them up with fire, to do more damage. If she kills them, she loots their corpses and tries to find an undead horse.

Jen - Your arrows miss. The Revenants are nearly upon you.

 

Ares - You walk into the supply room, and take a box from the shelves. In it you find a metal medium helmet.

Jen looses several more arrows with fire bonus. (That's +1 for each roll, or +2 if you're doing both at once) If they get close, then she takes one of her arrows and jabs it in their eyes.

Ares puts the helmet on and goes outside to kill something.

Jen - Your arrows cut through the rotting flesh of the Revenants. One of them falls, burning, to the ground, and the other staggers, then limps toward you. Its soulless eyes gleam with hate as it brushes aside your attempt to stab it with your arrow, then deals a glancing blow to your shoulder.

Ares - You don the helmet, dash outside, and see Jen fighting a Revenant. You can attempt to toss your scythe and kill it from across the water, cross the moat yourself, or do nothing. Your roll will be made before Jen's.

Jen backs away to the side, runs for a bit (so that she's ten or twenty feet way) and looses several more flaming arrows.

 

 

 

Then she loots the bodies before travelling further, in search of an undead horse.

We'll wait 2 more minutes for Ares, then I'll roll for you.

Ok, moving on.

 

Jen - You shoot 2 more flaming arrows, which scissor into the Revenant's eye sockets. Its head bursts into flames, and it falls, dead once more. You look through the remains of the Revenants, and find a bracer that seems to have survived the flames. You also pick up the arrow you attempted to stab the Revenant with. In the distance, you see a horse with rotting flesh.

 

For the fight: +0.6 Archery exp, - 7 Basic Arrows, 1 Metal Bracer.

 

Ares - Your scythe flies into the flaming corpse of one Revenant. + 0.1 to Weapon Throw.

Jen attempts to enchant the braces to increase the accuracy of her archery. Then she runs towards the horse with rotting flesh (it's undead, right? Not dead dead) and fires her normal arrows with tranquilizer magic on them, to put the horse to sleep.
