tortilliachp
eat less, work out more. for loosing weight: be sure you train basic strength, large muscle groups. more musclemass leads to higher metabolism. for loosing weight actively: run. The longer you run, the more you loose. Stronger heat and lungs are not a disadvantage for living long either. the more you work out, the more you loose. Be sure to do the strength, that's the least work for the most weight loss. For fast loss, you simply cannot get around feeling hungry, or hours and hours of running / cardo every week. First of all the cardio and weights, but if you want your weight to go down quickly, you simply need activities with high calorie usage per hour. That's where the treadmill comes in. NorthernHero
tortilliachp, when you do a high-end anaerobic work out your body will keep burning calories up to days after the workout. Thats why you are so hungry the morning after. Also lean mass may help keep the fat away. Not sure how hard work-out can I recommend tho because I don't know the age of the poster. It's highly possible tho that all the talk about disturbed growt and such might be just a myth. Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Fairy tales just tend to be easier to follow than the wonderful intricacies of life.

gremmy
Quoting myself from another thread; You can loose all the weight, by focusing on the diet only. Yes, exercise will speed up the process, but techincally (biologically if you want) better diet should do the job. A good rule of thumb is to divide your plate into 4 parts; 2 of these should be vegetables, 1 should be meat/poultry etc, 1 should be potatoes/pasta/rice etc. Worked for me at least; you won't lose 10 pounds in a week, but your weight will go down and your stomach will feel better during the day. Also, drink water as much as possible, it flushes your body, getting rid of more unhealthy substances aswell as filling and swelling the food you eat. Of course you will be less thirsty, and therefore less likely to drink soda during the day. Bring a bottle of water to school; it's that easy - you will automatically go fill it in the later hours. Good luck Edit: Another good rule is, ALWAYS EAT BREAKFAST; you will be full from the start of the day, you will eat less sweets in school and you will be able to concentrate better. Simple yoghurt, a piece of bread, anything will do. And milk for your bones Edit2: Keep doing push-ups; I can probably do 50 a day by now, and I started at 20 a day. Increasing by 1-5 like every 2-3 weeks really works wonders. assassin_696
my friend has back problems (basically has a slight hump) and the doctor said it was because he worked out with heavy weights during/before his puberty To be fair though, a lot of doctors really don't know what they're talking about when it comes to this kind of thing. There's no reason in principle why working out with proper weights when you're young would give you a bad back. Pro olympic powerlifters tend to start young, there was a program recently about a British girl who's 14 and training for the 2012 olympics. They don't have back problems in later life because they're taught how to lift properly. Anyway to the OP, I've made losts of posts in this forum answering similar questions, have a look at those, I don't feel like typing them all out again. Myweponsg00d
To be fair though, a lot of doctors really don't know what they're talking about when it comes to this kind of thing. Quoted for truth. So much truth. I told my general practitioner about some knee pain I was having and heres the conversation: "Do you exercise?" -yup"What type?" -All kinds. Usually though I just lift and do some running."What type of lifting do you do?" -*I explain some of my most frequent weight training*"Squats? Like heavy squats? You're a pretty short guy, maybe you should do the leg press machine instead." Doesnt even make sense. Then I went to a trainer and eventually we figured out that I just needed to work on my running technique. Knee pain gone, no thanks to my DOCTOR  You gotta keep in mind that people are good at what they do with most of their time. Doctors are rarely athletes. They might hit the gym every morning for some lazy cardio work while they kiss [wagon] with their coworkers. But really they are too busy and involved with their job to spend any REAL time working out. Doctors just work all day with sick people. And pills. If you want some pills, go to a doctor. If you want sports advice, go to a gym. Need assistance in any of these skills? PM me in game, my private chat is always ON
Haaa_Haaa0
hehe my doctor is an ironman triathalon finisher...but yeah weight lifting is probably the best weight to lose weight. Muscles take a lot of calories to maintain, even when you aren't lifiting, and of course lifting takes plenty of calories as well. Without a gym though...try using your body as weight. For your upper body, Pushups and pullups are always good. To work more muscles, though, elevate your feet or do handstand pushups, alternate your grips (palms facing you, away from you) when doing pullups, such things. Lower body is more of a challenge without weights, try doing step ups, body weight squats, biking, and of course running. bodybuilding.com has an excellent database. Dexek
You can do so much without actual "weights" just using household items, changes in incline, and your own body weight. You will see results from these techniques if performed appropriately. You diet is also a huge thing to consider; not just when working out but it always should be. I don't have any links on this computer, as it's my work computer, but I'm sure some helpful people can post a variety of weightless exercises for you, or you can google a couple sites and compare them. Some common ones that you will know are pushups, chinups, and situps. They're largely based on your technique, so don't slack in technique just so your repititions are greater. It'll bite you in the [wagon] in the end. Bloodstain
Just doing pushups/chinups/sit ups isn't going to do a hell of a lot, a gym would really be optimal.
AlxeMen
Crunches, push ups, and pull ups. I do about 200 crunches every other day with my lifting schedules in order to maintain my 6 pack. I've managed to keep it all through the winter; so I'll just need to continue on chest during the summer (as my arms are a bit freakishly large for the rest of me) so that's good news. But my little story there is just to tell you that crunches DO work. I've never been fat, nor chubby, etc. so I can't say from personal experience how far they will get you alone. Push ups -- I don't do enough of these, but if I didn't have a home gym weight set I'd need to do a lot of them. Always good to do, 100 a day should be a good fix. That depends on how many you can do in a row however. Pull ups -- I carved two holes in a wood fixture, put a sold metal rod in between the holes, and attached the fixture to the bottom of my deck. A simple tree branch could do I suppose though. Also.. if you really want to (and I really suggest it) buy a punching bag. It'll greatly increase your knuckle, hand toughness and that's really very useful; especially in a landscaping field such as my own. It'll also help to increase endurance and vision. Punch till right knuckle bleeds. Without a basic weight set that's all I can really offer. Best of luck! Most important thing to remember is to keep at it, don't give up, and keep your goals right ahead of ya. ----------- Edit: Cut out CANDY completely out of your diet, no reason to have it in there. Things like pie, ice cream, and chocolate do not qualify as candies in my opinion as they have at least some health benefits/aren't too damaging. However, such things as Sour patch kids, twizzlers, and hot tamales are just bad news bears. Never eat them. Even now whenever I even have one or two of the pure candies I get sick, just because my body recognizes the damaging product now present in my system and wants to fight it like a disease. Civil war in my stomach = nausea. However, I do enjoy pie whenever I can get my hands on it, specifically apple! :D -=EB World=--Sara - 13 hilt 43 ss-Bandos - 1 BCP, 1 Hilt
