You need to download winrar (its free) and extract the archive to get the actual files. Ronan Posted March 24, 2010 Share Posted March 24, 2010 A "rar" file is actually an archive, similar to a zip, tar etc. These contains files which are usually compressed within them, it's an easy way to bunch a group of files together and transfer them all within the one file. The program typically used to open up a RAR file is WinRAR (Assuming you're using Windows here), which can be found here :- http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm (Mods: I'm assuming this link's fine to post, very well known - if not just remove it of-course!) You'll want to download the appropriate version for you at the top of that page, but in most cases it'll be the top-link. (x84 (32-Bit)). Once that's installed and proper associations configured, you should be able to just double-click on the RAR file to open it up, then 'Extract' the files inside (I'm presuming these are the MP3s) to a folder of your choice using WinRAR (Extract button at the top.) Thank you :)First you have to decompress the file (.rar is a type of file for compression, you usually can't do things with files in that state). A good decompress-er is Winrar. Here's the download page for the trial version which has full functionality for 40 days: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm. Just pick which version works for your computer. After that they might be in .FLAC format, and if that is the case you'll need to do some converting. There is really no reason for the music to be in a compressed folder format. However, I'm guessing that's not how you're doing it, so just make sure you scan it and make sure they're all .mp3 files, otherwise delete them.
