Me no like what named StarGate, too big and too directed. Stargates are small, 6.7m in diameter, and can be dialled to any other.

Smaller Stargates can be a research project branching off from the main one...But this is FTL travel...and ships that are 6.6 meters wide tend to be ill suited for just about anything. Colonisation would also be fairly slow...5 people could probably use it per second, so thats...157,680,000 per year if you had a constant stream.

Invasions could be done fairly quickly though. But would be easy to defend against.

And they can already dial any other...but, since there are no Ancients, only the statgates you create can be dialled...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

-Churches being built across the Middle East, to help spread Eastern Othodoxy

-New interceptor plane, designed specifically to take down other planes.

-Helping Russia with its [uNNAMED] project. Heh.

-Cure for Alzheimers and various other diseases

-Life extension drug

-Defensive structures along the ERE-Egyptian border

-Defensive structures along the ERE-Iranian border

-Passive radar system

-Two 4th (?) Generation tanks - Solidus I, and Hyperpyron I

Ah yeah, I need to make a research list as well.

Project Sting

Project Scythe

Crisis Battlesuit project

Exoskeleton Weaponry

Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene.

F20 and F22 reverse engineering

Room temperature Superconductors

Efficient Jump-Jets

Rocco, do you want any help on that battery research? I could use it for the Crisis Suits.

I could trade geothermal power for it, when it's completed, if you want?

1) gives people something to make

2) makes batteries easier to transport

3) store more power (or whatever)

4) makes it possible to reduce the size of any battery operated device, which would make manufacturing pretty much anything cheaper

So do buttons

Carrying a pack of triple A's is not hard

D-Cells FTW? More power does not mean anything can use it

Potentially, but smaller is often more expensive, since it takes more skill to make...

What you said were more like supergates, which were made for the pourpose of travell between galaxies in ships.

Also during a normal gate max time (38 minutes) 11400 people could go through, which would be enough to create a small colony. 157,680,000 people would be around 32.5 times the population of Norway, a lot more than a colony would need during the first year.

Also a sort of dialing connection could be developed, allowing a trans-network dialing (to those who add that fuction) using a eight input to choose network (the first six being coordinates and the seventh/eight being point of origin), right?

Considering that these Stargates are not those Stargates they can stay open longer than 38 minutes...

Further population figures are just figures, they have no actual baring since population has no actual baring, beyond a roleplay element.

Also, getting a line of people like that would be near enough impossible...

If you want to research some sort of coding system, that is your business.

"Hello, this is your Operator speaking"

"Err, hi, I left my wallet at home, can I make a collect wormhole to Bird, A with circle on, Hyphan, Asterisk, Hexahedron, Square, Percent?"

"Who can I say is calling?"

"Dad"

"One moment, I am trying to connect your call.....It seems they have an outgoing wormhole already"

"I bet its Lucy, she is seeing this guy, and her mother and I-"

"Thats nice sir, goodbye."

I meant mass shipping. You go from being able to carry maybe a few thousand batteries in a truck to a few hundred thousand.

Begs the question....Why? The benefit of being able to transport 2 million batteries doesn't really make up for the ability to plug into the mains electric....

Less money in the pockets of lorry drivers, more people out of work...Less batteries required, meaning less sales, less people employed and higher costs for the consumer.

See how complicated it is, far better to just arbitarily give infrastructure bonuses of .1 when I feel like it, it cuts out all the economic stuff.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

It's not coding, but easiley understandable coordinates, to find a specific point in space you must see it as a cube and use six places (special stars mostly), one for each side, draw a line between opposite stars and the lines will cross at one point, then a special symbol must be added to the end to symbolize where are are dialing from.

Here's a 2D example:

X is destination, 1-4 are points in space and Y is current location, the gate in Y is then connected to the gate in X (if any).

Y

____1____

|................2

|........X.......|

I prefer to just use a six figure grid referance, as is used on the map.

Then one additional number to represent which stargate in the system you are calling....Seems much more simple.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

That was exactly what I was trying to describe. :wall:

EDIT: Wait, last symbol presents where it's dialled from, an eight symbol address has the 7th symbol as which kind of gate it is, then if really neccessary a secondary (less important) gate can be decided as 8th symbol in a nine symbol address.

Then there's no point in doing any projects besides military?

Who said anything about Military projects being any different?

Its not that there is no point, its makes the whole experiance much more interesting and means that you can undertake other projects in the same field...

But look at it like this...people on here are not scientists or experts, they barely understand the concepts involved, so guessing how they would effect the world is kinda complex...

More than that the bonuses, if they were applied, would be minute...sort of 0.005 for most projects...since more than that might cause problems.

Some things have cumulative effects, like Doom's research, which has made her fighting forces more efficent, but cost more...but, for the most part, research is a roleplay element, designed to help you have fun while playing...to customise your county...since bonuses are not fun when they take hours to work out.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Okay Rocco, the Crisis suit design is complete in like 3-4 years, then it'll take about 5 years to get it read for mass production.

I'll keep upgrading it, and provide allies with newer generations.

The paper thin battery is being implemented as a main power source in the crisis suits.

Nah it isn't.

You want a system which goes:

T-G, L-Z, calling from Antares

kSPKv.png

I want a system that goes(Ok, so its an 8 figure Grid Referance):

(720.8, 754.1) 1

Mine even has a list of star co-ordinates on the map...So how your's is similar I do not know.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I wanted six-point grid, I used four points because it is hard to do 3D text art.

Err, what does text art have to do with anything?

Also the Star Map isn't changing...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I'm not telling you to change the map, only saying that the addresses are simply 6-point grid coordinates with the possibillity for trans-network, and gate specific symbols before the point of origin which always comes last.

Maybe the stargate wiki will explain it more understandably:

The Stargate has symbols (39 for the Milky Way, 36 for the Pegasus galaxy and others visited by Destiny) which are combined to form a seven-symbol address. Six of the symbols, representing constellations, indicate the destination's three-dimensional coordinates in space, while the seventh indicates the point of origin. For Stargates accessing a destination outside of its galaxy network, a seventh constellation symbol is necessary, bringing the total to eight. There are 9 chevrons around the device, allowing up to 9 symbols to be dialed.

But if travelers are wished prevented one can simply block the gate by putting a barrier a few micrometers away from the event horizon to prevent the object/person from reforming, or at the event horizon to block wormholes entirely.

it'd be funnier to place the stargate over vertically onto a pit of spikes, so people would walk into the pit of spikes (BATTLE TECHNIQUE, NO STEALING)

Realisticly there would be no need for gates, you could use the same technology to make those beam me up things.
