I'm actually very into space sci-fi. Especially Warhammer 40k.

 

I just refuse to get into a real debate on Stargate because it is so opinion based. Personally, I think it sucks. Archi just about summed it up, and it carries more sci-fi cliches than you can shake a stick at.

 

Throwing viewing figures out wont prove anything. Now, I hate to use hitler based analogies (Really, we've played them to death and back... Several times) but it is the only thing I can come up with right now.

 

Many millions of people followed Hitler. Does that make him good?

 

 

And with that out of the way, can we please stop talking about Stargate for gods sake, and let the poll deal with whether it stays in or not?

The poll needs removal, banning anything from a certian place is totally ludicrous, as long as some of the things from stargate are possible they can't be banned. They're not overpowered compared to what other people have researched and therfore there is no reason to ban them.

Like the real world, China doesn't like the hats the Russians wear (example) they can't just make them go away they need to cope with them.

This enjoyment thing is basically mommycoddling the people, it's almost as if in the near future this thing will be turned around to give 'everyone a fair chance'

If I were still playing, personally I would say that when we start introducing Stargate techs with no semblance of reality, it moves the basis of the game towards the overpowered. It would mean that using real logic would be futile, when faced with the prospect of Stargate logic and overpowered technologies.

It's not the majority if you count the "I'm not taking part" votes, otherwise 9/16 votes say we should stay inside the solar system, 3 even to stay on Earth. I assume those who voted to stay on Earth would rather stay inside the solar system than going deeper into space.

13 people wanted to go into space. Of those 13, 6 wanted to stay inside the solar system, 7 wanted to leave the solar system.

Thus the majority ruled in favour of going into space.

However, because of the closeness of it I am willing to hold off releasing the FTL wonder until the solar system has been explored a little more.

 

Aliens are NPC only.

 

Deaded players will be restarted in space, after a poll has been conducted for thier new power and if they are allowed in. If anyone wants to suggest a set of multiple choice questions then please do.

Final comments on the matter:

 

Banning anything related to stargate would just be sci-fi rasism, logic should deside, not other players hatred against the shows.

 

Archi, Star Trek is 28 years older than StarGate, using amount of awards in ful numbers is an unfair comparison, in awards per year StarGate would have 2.1 awards and 13.1 nominations for SG-1, 3.8 awards and 12 nominations for SGA and 2 awards and 28 nominations for SGU, a total of 7.9 awards and 53.1 nominations per year. I'm pretty sure that beats Star Trek but I can't find an article on it's awards/nominations.

Hex, it affects me because most of the tech on the show is not based on real physics.

 

Naqawhatever somehow creates energy, and by being in the bloodstream of the whatever race prevents all disease somehow.

 

Particle magnums manage to fit an incredibly destructive blast into a tiny little pistol style weapon.

 

Drones somehow fit enough power in that little missile to generate enough heat to melt through walls and such.

 

it just wouldn't work. It's like me trying to use the power weapons from Warhammer. They can apparently cut through solid blocks of pretty much anything, but it wouldn't work in real life. Or researching a bolter. They can apparently fit 20 round magezines, and fire with good accuracy, despite the barrel being like 7cm long.

 

It's absurd.

Anyway, the nabudquaquahquah is unreal and can't happen and the particle magnums need a lot of time and money put into them but these things that defy physics should be banned but banning stargate overall is just pathetic.

Basiclaly, banning the magic things from stargate is ok but banning stargate because people don't like it is stupid.

Most of the ideas that Mather wants from Stargate are the stupid ones (A side effect of most all of Sci Fi tech being unrealistic, with notable exceptions)

Just saying, but all European nations are working on annexing part of North America. Invading would mean war with us as well.

 

However, I don't think any of us are annexing Central America, so that's free for you.
