Logdotzip
I'm not really familiarized yet with all the forum goodies, so I am not sure how appropriate of a question this is for this forum. Anyways, I was wondering how which Items you keep on death is determined, be it an algorithm or something like that. An example being some items have the exact same game value, let's say you had 4 mystic robe tops, all different color, with the last one being the same color as the first. How does the game decide which to keep? Is it random or does it perhaps have to do with where it's in in your inventory or if it's worn or not. Etc etc I was also curious if there was a certain way the value of an item kept on death is determined, or if it's set by whatever Jagex sees as fit. Just on a side note, I find it interesting that as far as I know, an Onyx Ring (i) protects over EVERYTHING (Divine SS, Bandos, Godswords, Dragon armour etc.) my youtube
Beloved
To answer one part of your question: the value is based on the shop value of the item, so the items with the highest shop value will be saved upon death. This has been the root of many vivid discussions in the past as a whip (which was incredibly expensive) only had a shop value of 43k (if memory serves me right) and therefor almost never was saved upon death. The second part of your question i can not answer for sure, but i feel like its based on which item is first in your inventory/equipment.
PereGrin
I think the item kept on death value was determined by the high alch value of the item. Not sure how different items of the same value are calculated tho.
Hajutze
I think he ment if you have 4 items with the same price what is the method to decide which 3 to be kept.
Roz
If you have four of the same item in your inventory, the first three in your inven will be kept.
Wiv
Its high alch value a perfect example is that barrows gloves shop value of 100k keep over soul wars cape with a shop value of 150k.
Quagsire
Its high alch value a perfect example is that barrows gloves shop value of 100k keep over soul wars cape with a shop value of 150k. Which is why party hats are lost no matter what. 1 gp alch value. Like barrows gloves > claws, etc etc. So many examples. One a side not, the fact that claws are around 30m with what, a 80k alch value? Totally accurate jagex. Why not keep a 100k pair of gloves over a 30m pair of claws. Emmentail
Jagex don't dictate the prices that players give items (mostly). If you aren't willing to risk claws then don't use them. Simples!
BeNiceOk
The answer to your full question is as follows:Saved items are based on 2 factors. 1) Alch price. The item that has the higher alch price will be kept over the item that has a lower alch price. This is the system that is most commonly used as items very rarley have the same alch values. 2) Alphabetical. Two items that have the same alch value are kept based on their alphabetial name. This was not always the case however. It used to be items were kept based on the item # they had. An item that was introduced earlier in the game would keep over an item that was intoduced later. Abyssal whips used to be lost over Mysic robe tops. Many of the "old-school" pkers will remeber mages used to hybrid in split-bark tops because mystic kept over the whips despite being the same alch value. This was changed however around 2005? (If someone could find the source on this it would be great.) Now items which are the same alch value are kept on death based on which comes first in the alphabet. This is why an "A"byssal whip keeps over a "M"ystic robe top. This is not a 100% rule however. Some items such as the Zamorkian spear have been tweaked to stay over items of the same alch value. Logdotzip
It makes me wonder what an Onyx Ring (i) alchs for.... I always have this thought in my head that it alchs for around 2.3 - 2.7 million, as that was the price of an Onyx gem / ring when imbuing rings was introduced. That, and it also being untradeable, when seen alone in the items kept on death interface, it has a very high value for being untradeable, in contrast to barrows being worth like, what, 2k I think it was?, when damaged. my youtube
Krampell
The thing is, you can't alch Onyx Ring (i).

Piu
1. High alch price + Low alch price. I'm not sure why add both, but it's like that. 2. The first 3 in your inventory. ABCXXXXXXXXXXXXX A, B and C will be kept upon grave. I tested this with Holiday Event items.
