in my book runescape doesnt stand a chance..

as all the points u put b4 360 is superior in absoultly every way possible.

the only reason people would still play this is coz of their driving addictions to get a paper hat that is a pexel for 89 million..

I don't see how the Xbox 360 can possibly form a real threat to Jagex.

I won't deny that every single game on the 360 will be better in graphics dan runescape, probably a better story, maybe even bigger, etc etc. But what about the huge community Runescape has got? I have a PS2 , and considering that the max players i ever saw online (socom 2, by far the most popular online game) was around 4000 - 5000. I can't tell on Xbox, but since you have to pay and there are more PS2's sold then Xbox's, the number on Xbox is even less...

Now with the Xbox360 , some people will buy it, coz it's next gen, or because they just like it. But imho it's to early to be next-gen, what's it got to offer that's so next generation except for kickass graphics? Not much imho, but that's a totaly different discussion.

Back to the point , if RS2 members buy the 360, it might lower their RS attention for some time, if not completely. But just bear in mind that many people with consoles are steel teenagers, who can play both. And if they have a Xbox 360 and RS2 membership, they probably can keep both as well... (no real financial issues), so jagex won't feel anything there if you ask me...

And if they have to choose , I wouldn't go for the xbox live, and I think I'm not alone , since Runescape is a garantuee of entertainement for me , and on the 360 you'll be depending on what games are there, and how many people are wanting to play them, which is a concern you don't have with rs ....

Not the best structure in this text, you may think it's real BS , but hey, it's a bit late for me, although I would like to express my opinion :P

I know what I know and what I know might well not be what you want to know but then seeing as only I know what I know and you do not know what I know then you will not know if what I know is what you would like to know

People don't u get it?.....................................

ITS ALL ABOUT HE PLAYSATION 3!!!!!!!

It's a shame that we haven't seen any REAL games on the system. It's all been pre-rendered. But this is another arguement for another time.

1)This isn't about competition between XBL and RS, it's simply a decision on which one to buy. One really has no effects on the other. It's like saying you aren't going to buy a TV because you already have a microwave.

2)What's so next-gen about the 360 you say? Well what was so next gen about the Gamecube in comparison to the N64 or the PS2 in comparison to the PS1? No offense but graphics are really the main thing that people think of when they hear the words "next-gen". Guess what, the 360 is adding more than just graphics to their next system. There is a HUGE expansion to the online features (refer to my first post), HD compatibility for every game, customizable faceplates (well that's kinda stupid), DVD9 disc format, and the list goes on from there.

3)The online community for the Xbox is alot larger than the RS community. There are far more people suscribed to XBL than there are suscribed to RS members. There were already over 1,000,000 people suscribed to XBL before Halo2 even came out. I can't imagine how many more people have suscribed since then.

4)You're not seeing the point. No matter what type of game you play, you will find an active community for it on XBL. The thing about XBL is that you aren't hindered by just one game, you have many different choices. When you pay for RS, you have one choice, a MMORPG. On the other hand, when you pay for XBL you have MMORPG, Racing, FPS, Action, Sports, Platforming, Fighting, Strategy and many other types of games offered to you. If you get bored of one, you can just play another without being charged anything extra.

Well, I only intermittently play RS2, but I wouldn't take JagEx for granted.. Earlier this year, JagEx announce its milestone for half a million ongoing subscriptions... that's, um, 500,000x5=$2,500,000 a month?

Also, at the end of October, Jagex secured an investment from Insight Venture Partners, an investment firm that has an excellent track record of dedication to the online playing community..

Obviously, Jagex's philosophy of creating a "play-anywhere" game has more than paid off.. And I think graphics and everything will improve in RS2 (as they did from RS-Classic) as technology moves along.. To me, Jagex's move from RS-Classic to RS2 was like a jump from Windows NT to Windows XP, if you get my meaning ;) So, hopefully, it can only get better ;) (Though I feel the map is a bit oversized by now.. Lots of HUGE areas that do not attract players at all.. Hopefully, there'll be a RS3 that will fix this :D)

I'm getting an Xbox 360, but im going to stick to runescape most of the time because I love this game, I usually play my PS2 when there is a game that i really wanna play and usually beat it within a week then go back on runescape. Other than that and going on trips places, my PS2 is collecting dust.

Xbox games get boring every few weeks or so RuneScape doesn't.

No idea why you think someone has to be 6 years of age if they don't know what an Xbox is. A 6 year old would be more likely to know what an Xbox is than anyone else I would of thought.

I find War3-Frozen Throne extremely fun and...

battlenet= fr33, as in no money spent, as in buy the game, play online for FR33! As in FREE FREE FREE! As in so free it'd blow your mind!

But Xbox is tons of fun I must admit. Halo2 is crazy fun on live, well worth over RS, thats why I don't play anymore

I play both. $110 isnt that much, really, seeing as the runescape is spread out as $5 or so dollars a month, so it seems like a lot less.

Xbox games are released, and more or less never get any major updates. Runescape gets almost weekly updates, and will continue to do so for quite some time.

I get bored of RS, I sign onto my xbox. I get tired of xbox, I go play RS.

play runescape until the next grand theft auto comes out

Lmao good idea... how long will that take though :?

There will be no more Grand Threft Auto. At least for the next 2-5years. The last one is Liberty City Stories for PSP.

1)It's not like the Xbox can't be modded stupid.

2)Just because it has more games doesn't mean it has more good games. Quality>Quantity.

3)So you like RPGs eh? And that automatically makes it better than any other system because magically, your word has become the law by which everyone must abide?

4)This is a RS vs. 360 thread. Please do not drag your PS3 and your stupidity into this.

I love how everyone plays rs for years, then they quit, and more or less say that the game is stupid and it sucks. (This is only AFTER they quit...)

Yeah lol, it's hilarious. Just because they didn't update when you wanted them to, doesn't mean you have to chuck a spaz and have a winge about it.

I just don't understand how you can be stupid enough to only compare the monthly Xbox Live fees vs monthly RS2 fees. If you're looking at it from a purely cost-efficient perspective, maybe you should factor in the fact that you need:

- An Xbox 360 (Retailing at $500 CAN)

- An Xbox 360 Game (Retailing at $60 CAN)

- A High Res TV (If you want to actually want to take advantage of the system)

- A Broadband Internet Connection

For RS2 you need:

- A Computer (Preferably 1 GHz+, 128MB+ RAM)

- An Internet Connection

Now, considering almost everyone in North America has at least some access to a computer, a TV, and an Internet Connection, I'll kindly remove those costs, and add in the monthly fees.

Xbox:

- System ($500 CAN, Fixed Cost)

- Game(s) ($60 CAN ea, Var. Cost)

- High Res *Optional* ($2000+ CAN, Fixed Cost)

- Monthly Fee ($50 USA / Yr, Var. Cost)

RS2:

- Monthly Fee ($60 USA / Yr, Var. Cost)

In conclusion, an Xbox 360 with one game will not become cheaper than RS2 unless you play it for over 56 years. But hey, who's counting.
