Efficient Method of Maging Steel Dragons?

I was thinking of using slayer dart + staff of light + arcane blast necklace + void set (magic)/Battle Robes to hunt steel dragons. Anyone tried this before? Did you gain much profit? Or still lose a lot?

If I'm not mistaken, slayer dart will max around 230 (lv85 magic) with that setup (not considering potential pot usage).

it is probably less efficient then ranging or meleeing.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

With sol+battle robes you save 50% of your runes, and slayer dart only costs about 430 coins normally, with void set im sure it will require less casts to down a single dragon. Not sure. Halving the cost makes it 215gp a cast, and since dragon bones are guarnteed, it should break even at 46 casts per dragon (23 times runes used). without battle robes, you're limited to about 13-20 casts per dragon, which technically should be enough.

I'm just concerned that prayer potions are so ridiiculously expensive nowdays (this method doesnt require prayer), but its to be expected looking at the gradual rise of people training herblore.

I was thinking mage would rake in faster kills with greater initial inventory space, but most methods are too costly

are you sure about ahrims? The only real advantage I see there is extra defense (which is unnecessary) and like +15 more accuracy. Also I'm not entirely certain, but isn't void more accurate than ahrims anyway?

Too bad! Use magic! I'm unsure about how accurate void is. I think your best bet might be battle robes + full slayer helm and SoL. Ahrims has slightly higher magic accuracy then battle robes.

No idea about Void. The set effect increases your magic accuracy by 20%....But, on the other hand, void does not have high magic attack bonuses, does it?

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

I would use battle robes and fire wave, or fire surge once you get the lvl. Fire wave is cheaper, and hits higher than slayer dart. Surge spells are more expensive, but much more powerful.

If you can't get battle robes, get ahrim top + bottom (+ farseer helm). The repair costs are minimal.

All in all, I think you might profit a little with firewave

I dont want to, that's boring and slower, lol.

I can promise you that meleeing them with a lbs/whip with your stats is MUCH faster than maging with max accuracy using sol/stream and casting fire surge. Magic isn't that accurate on them, it's a well accepted fact.

Actually, maging them works quite well. That's if you use a decent spell. I was Earth surging the ones in Kuradal's dungeon and was beating out most of the others who were meleeing. Same went for iron dragons.

If you're using the Magic Dart, its not really worth it to use that spell to kill anything. Unless you're using it at DKs or Barrows, but once you get a decent magic levels better spells become available.

I've used fire surge on them before, and the kills are extremely slow. Mage is incredibly inaccurate, and costs too much per spell to be practical. It's cheaper and faster with melee, so why people mage them for anything other than fun mage exp is beyond me.
