Slayer points

I've been saving up slayer points and have around 500 at the moment.

I'm wondering on what i should spend them, i want to get the maximum benefit out of every point i spend.

I'm going for 93 slayer (40% off 91 now), but are Ice Strykewyrms worth it? I get around 500k gp per 100 kills at Jungle/Desert without having any Hexcrests or Focus Sight drops so is it worth spending 2k points on getting them signed as tasks as i can't get a fire cape.

 

There's 3 options:

 

1. Spend the point on slayer dart, 35 points for 250 casts which equals ~105k

2. Save up for 2k points and get Ice Strykewyrms assigned as task as i'm nearing 93 slayer, mind 2k points is~ 6M in slayer darts.

3. Buy Exp with the points, 10k per 400 points (equals ~ 1M 200K)

 

(optional) Get the faster killing blows on Gargoyles and such.

Is it worth it? I'm using Kuradel as slayer master so it would only be handy on gargoyles.

Is it what i think it is so you don't need for instance a hammer to finish off a gargoyle? You could just melee it to death?

The 2k points spent on Ice Wyrms are as you said~6m, which is a SOL.I'm spending the points on Ice Wyrms then I'll just save them for runes.I probably will never try for a firecape,I don't know it's just not my thing.

The killing blows perk is really useful if you want to kill gargoyles just like any other monster, so it's up to you whether you are ok with using the hammer manually or would prefer a bit quicker and easier option at a cost of 400 points. You should start saving up for the runes after you get everything else you want. In this case, unlock the ice strykewyrms. One SOL drop would pay for the opportunity cost of the runes right away (assuming it's above 6m still when you get one). Never buy the exp, as it is extremely inefficient to buy exp that way. The runes are a much better option than the exp.

 

From what you mentioned in your post, I would get

1. Unlock killing blows OR ice strykewyrms

2. The other option from 1

3. Runes

 

This is assuming you have everything else unlocked (making slayer rings, full slay helm, block list, maybe broad bolts/arrows if you wish, unless you don't want some of these).

 

And for the killing blows, you still need the hammer, but it will use it automatically when it reaches 0 LP left, so it would die like every other monster right away (well after the animation).

If you enjoy slaying, and have any goals, spending points on exp is a waste.

 

For the killing blows, you still need the hammer (or whatever item is needed if its not a Garg) in your inv for it to be killed. This just keeps you from having to click on the garg. It is useful when Ranging/maging them as you don't have to be next to them to finish them.

 

Spending on runes is probably the best way to spend them. I use 2k points on ice wyrm tasks and i only gotten them as a task once. If you can wait until you have a fire cape, then do so.

 

Ultimately the choice is up to you, i just hope you pick one that suits you best.

Thanks for the quick responses, i think i'll go save 2k points then spend them on ice wyrms.

I'll then spend any leftover points on dart runes as i won't spend 400 points to get killing blows "faster"' on gargoyles when i get them once every 20 tasks.

 

Anyway if the game uses the item automatically but you must get the monster on 1HP first isn't it actually slower then? Because you can use the items yourself when the monster is below 95% of its max hp...

I wouldn't waste the points on exp, 10k slayer exp is pretty easy to get.

 

Why exactly can't you get a fire cape? With your stats it wouldn't be too bad, and it would be way more worth it to just get one instead of blowing through 2k points like that.

 

Personally I'd buy the faster killing method (which means you'll still need to bring a hammer to gargoyles, but it will automatically smash them for you. I bought this with my slayer points and I love it.) and spend the rest on slayer dart runes to sell for cash.

Uhmm. Why would you spend the 2k points on ice wyrms? There isn't really any other cape to use there than fire cape anyway, as it gives improved damage (much like the ferocious ring)

 

Unless you really, really, really can't get a fire cape though, but most people are able to get that cape within some tries anyway. (and some lucky people get it on their first try -.-)

Use the points for quick killing blows, it's pretty useful for if you don't pay 100% attention to rs.

 

Rest I'd spend on runes. Why exactly can't you get a fire cape? I don't have one, but that's mainly because I cba to get one. Mainly because I don't usually play for 2+ hours at a time paying full attention. If you don't have a fire cape I'd say ice wyrms are probably not worth it

I tried twice and got to Jad twice without any real preparement and without using more than 10% of my supplies, i found the italy rock myself and used it.

I lost connection on the way to Jad a good few times but it was nothing and i was aware i was going to d/c and i wasn't really sure how i was going to deal with this on Jad, but i got my answer i can't deal with d/c on Jad.

 

I would have to log into a pc with a more steady internet connection, i don't know exactly what causes it, this pc gets a lagspike every ish minutes since ever.

On some ocassions it will d/c me.

My bro who's a computer scientist can't find the issue either so go figure, i have this pc for 6 years :mellow:, got used to it.

 

No fire cape it is.

If you cannot get a Fire cape for whatever reason, and are anywhere reasonably close to 93 slayer, get the ability to hit Ice wyrms.

 

Otherwise, get the runes. The xp is really never worth it, and the ability to deal finishing blows may actually slow you down if you are an extremely focused and dedicated slayer, and will, at best, act as a convenience or a "safety blanket", which probably won't be worth the 1m in runes you gave up.

Bring your computer in to get a full repair/upgrade type thing, have them remove dust or use a can of air yourself, use task manager to shut down everything unnecessary, only RS tab open, safe mode, go quick. Done. Not worth 2k points for Ice Wyrms.

Also, use a defragmenter as after 6 years I bet your disk is slowed way down by this.

You could also just go to a public library (If you're allowed to play games at yours) to kill jad, since their internet is usually pretty reliable.
