Where's the filter?

Removed Image because of Censor Evasion

Unfortunately, the Runescape filter is easily bypassed in-game as well, by placing an apostrophe ' in front of curse words, or by combining words. I have to admit that it does bother me, considering completely innocent things (like smileys) are censored

All skills 70+

Trails: 2 x Rune platebody (g)

Barrows: 1 x Dharok's legs

Drops: 1 x Dragon skirt | 1 x Dragon defender

Why do you care? It is actions and people like this who screw things up for everyone else by complaining about something and bringing something to more people's attention then would naturally happen if you didn't say anything at all. If it wasn't for people being so conservative, I could freely speak my mind without having to deal with censors. I can't say [wagon], [kitty], or [bleep] on these forums because of people who [bleep] about little things like the word [bleep].

Don;t get me wrong, this might be an inappropriate name, but you are making a large deal over a minuscule thing. You could be looking at in wrong altogether,, The account owner could be a female who likes a guy with the mentioned name. It might not be a vulgar term for a male body part or a person in this instance.

While the discussion of the filter is allowed, please don't post actual examples up here since even if Jagex's doesn't work - we still have a filter here :)

I've also moved this to rants since it's more of a rant aimed at Jagex rather than *discussion*.

PM me if you have any questions.

There's some way worse names out there. I saw a guy at the ge yesterday with the name iHangN[deragatory word for black people]. It wasn't auto-blocked because it was spelled incorrectly.

Censors are something we all have to deal with, and idiotic names are as well. Might as well get over it, they aren't going away.

Jagex is still under the believe that 13-year olds don't know what the F word means. It will most likely never happen, but I think the chat filter should be made optional.

The chat filter is fine. It's not an issue any more.

I don't understand why the censor isn't optional. People who want to curse can, resulting in almost no censor evasion, while those who want to keep their virgin eyes pure from evil (?) have the censor on. Less accidental words being filtered, more people satisfied with uninterrupted chatting, less evasion and thus less reports Jagex has to deal with. Everyone wins.
