Retech
That's wierd. This Wiki thing says this: Carrack = 14th centuryCaravel = 15th centuryGalleon = 16th century Hrrm. Okay, I will start unlocking ships as the natural progression of trade moves on. For the moment, everyone has access to basic cogs, which can in extreme circumstances travel to China, but will probaly lose 90% of the crew, meaning they are probaly good only to establish initial contact. This is also the trade ship around Europe. Sea-faring cogs will become available in roughly a decade. Basically sturdier and better supplied cogs designed for small trade missions to Asia. Then the others will come later as things ramp up. Okay, now to work on pricing. ---- Yep, could you please PM that to me? Master of your domain? archimage_a
*Sustained Facepalm* Better system:Everyone has Cog/Cog like ships, which are crap at navigating beyond the coast, but if you follow the coast, you are mostly fine. Round Bottom boats take 80 years to develop(Which make all your vessels ocean going)2 Mast Boats take 30 years to develop(Which doubles the size of your ships)3 Mast Boats take 50 years to develop(Which trebles the size of your ships(Doesn't stack))4 Mast Boats take 100 years to develop(Which makes all your vessels ocean going AND trebles the size of your ships(Doesn't stack)) You can build massive ships before then but they cost a tonne extra(With the research the cost stays the same as whatever it is now), and trying to go into the ocean carries a 80% chance of losing the ship. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. Retech
I'm not a big fan of using numbers but my problem is that when I start high school, with my intention of going to an Ivy league college, I will not have enough time to mod this game. That means that I have fifty or more days of modding this game, which is why I kept the research durations relatively short. If I could find a replacement when I left, then this would be a great system, and that would be jolly good. Master of your domain? jasignhagj
I could mod, but im also going into High School so wont have a lot of time. Wall project is canceled. All 10 million of my budget goes into training 12,500 archers and 20,000 foot soldiers, bringing my army totals to: 40,000 Foot Soldiers32,500 Archers 1000 Cavalry High School is going to be really easy for me , except English. Icuownage
I begin research on W/E is the latest ship we can do, because I am confused on the matter. Also I forgot to mention this ages ago but Siege technology Naval technologyHygiene Farming technology Mining technology Armoured wagonsBladed wagons Horse breedingHorse armor I've been doing this since the start of the game, and a PM to Retech proves it. So I think I should be getting atleast ships before everyone else, also my horses should either be the best OR as good as someone who has been researching as long as me. I had two other techs but I forgot what they are and I can't seem to find them so unless I can find the proof it looks like they're lost. I definately know one was silver economy though. It's a REALLY big shaft.I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time? Nexaduro
Siege will only benefit in smarter troop use of such weaponry,Same with Naval,Hygiene would probably reduce chances of an outbreak and economic loss from outbreaks,I can't think of any significant bonus for Farming,Same with Mining,Armoured Wagons would probably increase profit from trade,Same with Bladed Wagons (but what do the blades do?),Horse Breeding probably wouldn't do much,And Horse Armour would probably decrease the movement penalty for armoured cavalry. Of course, I can't see this doing much unless you invested a considerable amount of money. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Icuownage
Siege technology - Used to make my siege weapons just fire further/fasterNaval technology - Ships.Hygiene - Quality of life for people, also they'll probably be less prone to disease and plagueFarming technology - Better diet, stronger, better soldiers.Mining technology - Better metals, better armor, better soldiers.Armoured wagons - Exactly what you saidBladed wagons - Kinda like bladed chariots, so we could charge a road block or suchHorse breeding - DurrrrHorse armor - Dur It's a REALLY big shaft.I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time? Retech
Hooray, the maps are done. Okay, here's the explanation for the map. (Asian map) Darkish grey areas are wilderness, already mapped in a more detailed map, or are not supposed to be shown (like the Americas)Red lines indicate primary land routes, which will be less risky for your soldiers to walk on than other "uncharted" routes. Maroon = KievYellow = MongolsLightest Peach = Persian CaliphatePurple = Eastern parts of the Byzantine empireLight Purple = Khmer EmpireOlive Green = Sultanate of something (momentarily forgot its name)Dark Blue = Southern Song DynastyOrange = More MongolsDarker Peach = More MongolsGreen = JapanLight Blue = South Africa [hide=Really big map] [/hide] [hide=European map] Could someone please fix up the titles for stuff? I have no clue how to do that. :P [/hide] We are using Archi's system for ships, except all the times are cut in half. Cogs cost 50,000 every five years to maintain, and 50,000 to purchase (so you can't simply buy an infinite amount and disband before the five years). This will be calculated at the five year mark, so if you purchase a cog one year before the next five year, you'll have to pay again really soon. Each can carry five hundred soldiers, or can be tasked to trade between certain countries. This is to replace the old trading route system, so everyone who put money into trade routes, please PM me and I'll re-imburse you for the costs with other trading related stuff. This will be going onto the front page soon. ---- Plague has somewhat died down, but will continue to have outbreaks every once in a while in some countries. Master of your domain? Retech
are you gonna pay attention to what i pmed you 2 days ago (and so retrospectively factor it into their attack of poland) or Okay, your army as a whole as too slow to reach the Mongols before they crushed Poland. Either the calvery fast enough to catch them would've attacked them before hand, or I can calculate an attack by your entire army on the Mongols in Poland, after the peace treaty has been signed and the Mongols are pretty comfortable in Poland. Based on quick mental calculations, if your calvary had attacked by itself, it would've been defeated and the result would've been the same in Poland, even if the Mongolian general performed at its worse (good) and your general performed at its best (excellent). So, if you'd like I can factor those in either way. Master of your domain? I am Lord of the manor, Queen of the castle, King of the county! My army attacks the Mongols now. you can't just not read the PM then be a [bleep] about it later on Hmm? I believe your orders were to keep marching east. Then after the battle where the Hlaupari killed lots of Mongols, your army marches west again in the next battle report, which is the last one that happened. The Mongolian army is basically all-calvery, so they manage to ride day and night, several times faster than your army combined (since the only way they'd march together would be if they rode at the speed of the slowest unit, which was a pikeman), thus getting to Poland and smashing that before you arrived.
