I invent the Gods of Leon, they function as spies, ninjas, assassins, fortress breakers, sappers, crusaders, mathematicians, philosophers, tanks, spearmen, mobile cavalry, and experimental physicists.

 

And they can fly. But that's secret.

I fail to see how they can function as shock troops if they're wearing armour that spies wear (aka nothing), and wielding weapons that scouts carry (aka a sword, maybe a spear).

Then they'd be terrible spies and scouts, since they wouldn't be able to move stealithy or fast.

 

His unique unit has conflicting roles - you can't be a shock troop fit for breaking enemy lines if you're equipped like a scout with a sword and a dagger, and you can't be a scout or a spy if your equipped to break enemy battle lines.

The spending on Hlaupari primarily goes into the military schools, the supplies of which are distributed as necessary. Retech can alter costs as he wishes.

Besides, my Hlaupari are legitimately flexible troops, and their new rapid crossbows and firebombs cement their shock troop position. You saw what they did to the Mongols, obviously Retech gave them the expected usefulness.

They focus on finding out information, then switching arnament as necessary Dusty. They have speed when necessary.

I was under the impression that when you bought a troop, that's what troop you got. That way someone can't just run around with an army of 10,000 swordsmen and then when they get attacked by cavalry say 'Well, I just gave them spears and shields. They're spearmen now!'

6,000,000 for the schools, 300,000 default per year spending, 1,000,000 per year if I want to hire 1,000. I can only hire 1,000 per year, since there are only so many graduates.

Also the Hlaupari can't function as all the roles at once. For example, if they're deployed into Ireland as spies, then one is suddenly caught, they can pull out all their various weapons and slashing through the police.

 

They just happen to be very versatile, so from one mission to another they can perform well at both.

 

 

 

Dusty's Knights of Santiago are by far the best at combating "heathens" and would probaly be the best unit in Asia, since the main Asian kingdoms use lots of low-grade spearmen and high grade swordsmen, something that the knights would be good for.

 

Rocco's unit is basically a beefed up version of the Hlaupari, though its less flexible.

 

Icu's blood knights are the best all-rounder knights, but they come in lesser numbers and he's been forced to give more independance to his nobles. Also, their fear effect can often be negated against more fearsome enemies (Mongols, Persians with elephants), making them the same effectiveness as normal knights, but more expensive. They have a problem with massacring civilians without discretion.

Princes? Princesses? Bah, Iceland has no nobles. Excluding the Orrustagud, only generals and elite Hlaupari come close to noble status.

 

We're a capitalist... not sure, would it be despotism? People are relatively free to make their own way, for the sake of bettering Iceland. If you can make a profit, you will. If not, try something else. And all able-minded individuals have potential for a job in the military, even if it's not in combat.

Well Japan is currently the most powerful "kingdom", though China is resurging. Also, the Mongolian kingdoms are strong militarily, but their leadership changes often. Japan is comparable to the player European countries, except they have a huge advantage in Asia because that is where they are located.

Also the Zirid empire begins a slow expantion first to cover the entire African-Mediteranian boarder, Then slowly move south but avoid taking anything belonging to Egypt.
