Ye Olde Hegemony

Retech

Recommended Posts

Crete begins to trickle troops into Sri Lanka to protect certain business deals and such. Probably about a thousand per year, for the next 14 years.

If there is any neccessity I will negotiate with the Sri Lankan Authorities about stationing the troops there.

Also, I will set up a small, isolated, settlement to support my soliders, with the government's permission, if one exists.

I am open to negotiations from the Sri Lankan Authorities.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I fear Retech has stepped into the abyss.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

Make a large army atleast, I spied on them and they have a rather large army, I don't know exact numbers but they have a fortress which is well fortified and the people love the leader so he will get a lot of support from peasents. Also he isn't a stupid person so he'll probably near Mongol difficulty.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

French Expedition to Sri Lanka

The French navy of twenty two cogs set sail for Sri Lanka, taking the only route by sea: around the treacherous horn of Africa. They were beset by heavy gales as they attempted to cross the area into the far east, causing five cogs to crash against the rocky shoals. Meanwhile, another two cogs were heavily damaged and forced to beach, where their inhabitants were taken prisoner by the South African tribes.

After arriving in Sri Lanka, the soldiers quickly learned that the "heavy gales" were actually rather mild compared to the usual dangers in the area. They marched to the home of the local strongman, which was a nicely walled manor with several dozen guards to keep out the poor. The French forces quickly pounced on the strongman and killed him. When news of the murder trickled out into the rest of the island, the strongmen began to levy their huge peasant armies. The main French army hurried into the fortification, realizing that they would be overwhelmed by sheer numbers if they tried to flank from the outside.

With a large and angry force outside, the French forces began to lose hope, realizing that their food supplies were rapidly diminishing. Further, the interior spring which supplied the strongman could not supply several thousand soldiers, and the water that the soldiers could dredge up from other methods were contaminated, though it didn't stop them from drinking their fill.

Casualties continued to mount from dysentry and other water-borne illnesses, though thankfully other kinds of diseases did not strike.

Taken prisoner:

300 Blood knights

500 Elite Pikemen

Killed around the Horn:

700 Blood Knights

1500 Longshielded Crossbowmen

500 Elite Archers

Killed from diseases and starvation:

500 Swordsmen

500 Pikemen

News of Greenland

The reaction to the colony in Greenland has been overwhelmingly positive. People are eager to chart out territory for themselves in the vast wilderness and many have asked for more cogs to be provided to journey there. The colony has continued to expand to the edges of fertile territory, though some startling reports have come from the fringe villages. Some natives have been sighted, and they didn't look too friendly.

Refers to Icelandic colony as well

(Please PM colony stuff to be sure that I don't miss it, if it's important. )

Well that was midly unexpected. I knew it would be harsh but Jesus O_O.

Personally from my plan I expected this.

Huge military parade showing that France wants peace between Sri Lanka and France and that we hope that we could form a strong alliance between our new happily married couple. As the parade carries on through to the capital, the army would turn on the despot, murder him, we'd then hold the capital. Sri Lankan army moves into take out the French forces and then my reserve move in to flank and we sandwhich em.

Oh well win some lose some.

This war will be harder than expected and I'm thinking it might just be easier to just stay in Europe, did we actually kill anyone?

It's a REALLY big shaft.

Your forces never actually engaged the Sri Lankans. All the casualties were from diseases and storms.

Did I roll like a 5 on the RNG or something O_O?

Almost half of the army there was killed by nature, I'm going to have to retreat, but if I do that the rest of my forces will just get owned by mother nature again O-o.

You could send troops by land instead of by sea, through the land routes I posted before. Of course it might be hard to get to Sri Lanka that way.

Uhhh actually the sea was rather kind to me. Compared to how many I lost during the trek on land. So sea = better so far.

Seems like I might need to attack Subutai, but I like Subutai :(

Edit

Sri Lanka is an island, sea is neccessary.

Or you could try the diplomatic route...

Speaking of which, Retech, are you still good for that IRC China trade and sultanate of whatever thing?

The Sultanate of whatever needs a proper name, too.

Uh yeah cause I tried that and when I did people just screamed at me. I'll just be diplomatic with China and take them over that way. Sri Lanka is a DEATH TRAP, killing like 2000 men by just having them walk up to w/e they went and just sitting there.

Yeah because china will be ever so friendly after you essentially invaded one of their neighbors. Also Sri Lanka is not exactly a death trap, getting besieged in a place without adequate supplies is however in pretty much every scenario.

Mehhh, also I don't think China and Sri Lanka have any relations. If they do I just freakin give up on Asia all together.

Also

MY PLANS NEVER INVOLVED WHAT HAPPENED. So it wasn't me being a bad general, it was a stroke of bad luck.

Well lets see. Vast untamed wilds full of dangerous animals, savages, disease, lack of sustenance, and abundant resources.

If you manage it, you're clear, but good luck with that one.

Italia has constructed 20 cogs which shall soon set sail for the tip of south africa. They will carry 1000 archers, 2000 footmen; the best of our army, and 500 traders and skilled diplomats.Their goal is to Capture an area large enough to construct an outpost.

That said, a good general will never need to order a seige either.

Lolwut. Maybe if he's facing an enemy that has no fortresses or anything. Then yea, he'll never need to siege anything. You always make such bizarre absolutist statements.

By the way, what were those gunpowder things that Icu has? Are they cannons or something?

If so I might as well start research or whatever on them myself.
