Indie Games

Featured Replies

I thought I'd make a thread about indie games and developers as I find the indie game scene very open and much less restrictive compared to mainstream games.

I've only really played a few indie games which would be AudioSurf, World of Goo, and N (The way of the ninja). I don't know about you but theres something about these games that always keep me going back for "One more song/level/try".

What indie games do you play/Have you played? And which ones could you recommend?

This includes free ones and paid ones.

N (The way of the ninja) - Free

A very basic platformer, warning VERY addictive.

World of goo - Costs £16.99 from Steam

Build stuff using Goo Balls to reach the levels objective

AudioSurf - Costs £5.99 from Steam

Creates a track from YOUR music on your computer for you to ride on and match coloured blocks.

I have world of goo for the wii, it's a pretty awesome game, one of my top favourites actually

Other than that I also played Braid and trine, and I'm looking forward to shank, Limbo and Lost in shadow (not sure about this one, if it's indie or not)

Beat Hazard is a pretty awesome Indie game. I got it for like $5, I think.

It's pretty much the child of Audiosurf and Asteroids on LSD. You pick a song and then blow things up in a spaceship with very pretty guns. It gets really hard because there's so much going on in the faster/heavier songs, and loads of enemies on the screen at once. D:

Also, Coniclysm's a pretty awesome time killer. I really don't know how to explain it.

wake up like dead men

Crayon Physics is the coolest thing ever. I think it's like $20 to download from the developer, I played it at a museum for like an hour once. http://www.crayonphysics.com/

I need to buy it.

Would Enex count? Bonus points for being made by A TIF'er.

I guess.. what ever happened to that project anyways? I remember a lot of hype about it and never got to see the game :<

I was tempted to get Noby noby boy or w/e, that looked pretty hilarious and crazy, not sure if it was indie or not though but it was £2.50 or something.

Oh, it's indie alright lmao.

Hell, even the main developer for it wasn't even sure why he made it.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Holy Jesus that was ridiculous. Some of my music I couldn't do better than 30 seconds on hardcore.

Dwarf Fortress.

It may be a graphical mess, but I'll be damned if it isn't fun as hell.

Mount and Blade would be an indie game that is alot of fun. Been playing Warband expansion (standalone) and it allows you to rule a kingdom which is even better.

And it was made by a guy and his wife.

Doomy edit: I like sheep

I'd say Penumbra is one of the greatest, if not the greatest indie game ever. It gave fear a whole new face. Specially Black Plague. You want weapons? [bLEEP] YOU! Here, have a zombie with a lantern that will find you if you try to hide and will chase you running if you try to escape.

Also, I agree with DOOMY, M&B is alot of fun, but I couldn't be assed to finish the game. I played for like 700 in day games, and it got tedious. Still, I strongly suggest everyone who likes medieval style combat oriented games.

One morething, does "I wanna be the Guy" counts as Indie? Because I've been playing a lot of it recently
