Piu
If you can, preferably a rare or a discontinued item. Or Dragon Bones/Big Bones, they're going to rise for sure. Dax
I'll give some amazing wisdom and say avoid Treasure Trails items. Knight_Zaros
I'll give some amazing wisdom and say avoid Treasure Trails items. Sounds like a big update coming up, and always getting a drop'll put items down for sure. Correct current TT items will likely drop and the new TT items will likely be ridiculously expensive throughout most of the year. So don't pick any of these. The only real safe bet is always going to be in discountied rares, santa's, masks, phats, edible rares (egg/pumpkin) etc... If you can't afford anything than it is really anybody's guess because anything that continues to be dropped/hunted for/etc. in game can fluculate quite a bit on a few months to a year. So longterm investments on items like this can be very risk and definily not a sure shot investment either. Example two years ago robin, fury, bandos armor, etc. could all be found for under 10million, robin and fury being cheap around 1-4million and now they are all what 15-20mil+ again... eyeye
the main reason i was wondering is i'm about 3 weeks back from three years off of the game... all the prices are blowing my mind, but i'm catching up/
Grimy_Bunyip
I'm holding onto adamantite bars for the moment.Rares are a better option IMO, i just don't buy them out of principle.way I see it, if the adamant arrowtip price cap were removed, or if the high lvl smithing update is released, either will cause a marginal rise in adamantite bar prices.not by much though, profit margins on rares are still much bigger. It's just my personal investment preference.currently addy bars are slightly above their normal price though.

Sir_Kurity
Oh wait TT update. Nevermind. Dependant on how the TT update goes down, the TT market could either die in a hole or stay the same. O.O
svs
Ranger boots for one aren't a good item to invest in right now. (Overall it's dropping more than it's gaining)Neither is the robin hood hat, chances are you might loose money but the odds of making money are atleast higher than ranger boots. (Your chances of making money with robin hood hats are slim, and the amount of money you might make is very little.)In general, it's not the best time to start an investment now, i would wait untill after the summer deflation. (The deflation is not allowing some items to rise and people think they some items became stable but they didn't, don't make the mistake of buying the wrong item(s)) Or as has been mentioned already, wait untill the new tt items are released then spend some time figuring out which ones will rise the fastest and which ones will drop, use your common sense to make a good investment and don't wait too long to sell it, sure a 3M profit would be nicer than a 2M profit but you'll see how much profit you could expect out of it. I have the GP and knowledge to do well in the rares market, but out of principle I choose to stay out of the rare market. Gold ore seem to be at an all-time low right now and a smithing update I forsee a decent jump. No where near other items rise, but since I don't get on much (due to work) I don't want to bother scanning the GE Database for the best item at the time so I looked for a good long term item.Only problem I have had with gold ore is that I bought 1M ore at 300 each and they've fallen to 280. But with the Dungeoneering update it went to 350 and that wasn't even a specific smithing update. With BTS, any item that would be bought out with an update will now be bought out twice. Once when it's on the BTS and once upon release of update. So, my advice is: Look at the update hints that Jagex has given recently and buy items related to the updates that should rise. This makes for a good mid-term item to hold.
Laps9
I notice everyone is worried about the TT update but lets not forget what happened with the last oen, the older items became even rarer and the newer ones became common. Right now everyone is trying to get rid of their TT items (canes, boaters, berets etc) so they are cheaper than ever. What I am doing is playing it risky and snapping them up at the lowest price hoping that the new update adds rarity to the older items once again leading to a huge increase. Another thing, headbands currently have a street value several times higher than GE price so maybe jagex will finally update their GE price manually like they did to rock climbing boots so I've also got constant buying offers for headbands at max price, they sell about once every two days and their prices are gradually increasing (the opposite of others, this is probably true with bobs aswell) 5% every time one sells. So yeah if you've got the money to risk, there may be a lot to be made. put him in jail Then i'll just wait for him to drop the e-soap
All_Is_Great
I held on to some rune canes from when they were 50k, and made quite a bit off them. But now the BTS is out with TT updates, they obviously aren't the way to go. If you're looking for long term investments, try for items that are used to train skills which haven't been updated in a while. Stuff like mith/addy bars, planks, etc. Also look into the past graphs of such items before you make a choice. Best case scenario is you gain money when you come back, but make sure the worst case scenario is not losing money.
