Leik
Right, so I want to get 99 magic, but I want it to be strictly combat. I have about 110m to use, although I don't want use it all, since I plan on getting 99 Smithing shortly after. Anyway, I was thinking about either Abyssals or Metals. I already have 99 Summoning, so don't suggest bursting lobs. I would really appreciate if someone could give me a setup for both, inventory and how much I'll lose/make on average. I've tried finding some guides, but never found anything decent. Maybe I'm just blind. My magic level is 96 and I have 99 Herblore if that's any use. Thanks in advance. <3 LIVERPOOL WILL WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE THIS SEASON. Zaaps1
I'm going to say that barraging/bursting is still your best bet. Obviously NOT at rock lobsters, since you have 99 summoning and hp, but Ape Atoll is a good option. Just follow the same strategy as chinning, but use SMOKE spells instead of water so you don't freeze the skeletons. Otherwise, you're going to get some pretty fail xp. EDIT: I did remember my friend telling me that surging Abbys was 70k+ xp/hr. I doubt this is true, but maybe it's worth testing? ~It's Super Effective! John Halo Chief
You could always go Demby. Chaos gaunt on blue drags in the ogre enclave. You profit from bones/hides, and it isn't terrible xp. I'm not good at keeping track of xp/hour, but it's probably 50k~.

In fact, mage anything profitable. Maybe go kill a few thousand Rexes, that'll surely get you 99 mage and you'll profit like crazy. Otherwise, any form of combat magic is either profitable and slow (killing profitable monsters) or fast but expensive (ancients). ~It's Super Effective! manitstinks
I would mage rex but you could gain it through slayer tbh. Mage irons, steels, abyssal demons, ice stryewryms, and if ur bored, go on a Rex trip.

Thanks in advance. <3 I have had no problem training metals to level 96 magic. It's relaxing and fun. Not tasking and boring, just how I play the game and seems like you would appreciate that. I don't ever really focus on exp rates but I would say 70k+ exp an hr wouldn't be far off fire surging, its much faster/better than the lesser spells thats for sure. Something to consider is maybe train your combat magic a few ways to mix it up. Make those last few levels go by alot quicker! Heres a brief metals guide to what I wear. Quyneax
If you're maging rex, you might get away with sol + fire surge. It hits somewhat lower than cog + void mace (322 vs. 330 max) but earns more xp (90+ for surge, 61+ for cog). Ice barrage + sol hits higher (345 max) but earns way less xp (52+), so it's not an option for you. dubcit
Right now im fire surging abbies at in the abyss. Its pushing 100k plus exp per hour, but I am extreme mage potting every time my mage falls below 100. The set up im using is pretty basic, ah with farseer helm and sol. What i do is I bring 8 ext mage (3) 1k casts of fire surge a uni and like 200 scrolls, after every uni pouch i leave to check my herbs. So far I've only done about 3k casts and have gotten about 2m profit plus cash from herbs.did a 1 hour test, and got 111511 mage exp

crashNburn
Considering you're going for 99 smithing afterwards, I'd suggest superheating gold. 100k magic and smithing exp per hour, and that's a fairly conservative rate, much higher if you're concentrated. Edit: looking at your levels, superheating at edgeville furnace (while smelting) would also be a great option. It cuts down on the natures you need to buy, and would still get you 99 mage before 99 smithing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy-Tra5zouw Interactive dungeoneering floor mapper
Flareboy64
What I've been doing is maging all the "mage able" tasks I get (Greater Demons, Abby Demons, Metal Drags). It costs a bit, but the drops from my other tasks usually make up for it. [hide]99 Strength 99 Fletching 99 Range 99 Hitpoints 99 Attack99 Dungeoneering <3 99 Magic 99 Smithing 99 Herblore 99 ThevingSlayer Drops: 14 whips, 22 D boots, 27 Granite Mauls, 42 Effigies, 5 Dark Bows. What would be cool is if Drakan and his minions kill all the sig heroes in the quest except Raptor who is wrecking. You and him team up and cave in some vampyre heads. He becomes a total bro in future quests and in a GM quest he receives a fatal injury and his last dying words to you are "Brofist, mang"[/hide]
Leik
Alright, thanks for all your advice :), but I've decided to mage Irons for 99 magic. It's fun and enjoyable, plus a chance of a visage is always nice. :P Based on the trip I just did, it will cost me just under 7m and like I said, a chance of a visage sounds pretty good. It may not be the fastest method in the world, but it's fun and enjoyable and that's what it's all about, right? ;) Thanks again. <3 LIVERPOOL WILL WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE THIS SEASON. demby123
If your looking for the best magic xp with combat, red or blue dragons very good optionsUsing fire wave at red dragons(brimhaven) gives around 80-100k xp/hour.I'd also suggest fire surge at dks, with god spells i got around 50k/hour before the arcane necklaces were released. Pretty sure you can push at least 70k with surge a sol and arcane stream with extremes. Problem is brews are more problematic with surge than with god spells, but it may be worth the hassle. With your 99 summoning you can make quite a bit of money using a pack yak as well. Metals are also an option but I personally don't like them for their relatively high magic defense compared to other "mageable" monsters.
