Thinking about it, it seems like I just have a 400-year tech that's completely useless compared to 100-year ones. I mean, I feel like I just can't expect a lot from it. It's basically a means of cleanly and safely separating any rock or metal within a certain distance of a special uplink. Those pieces can then be psionically propelled and any electronic components remotely activated while within the uplink's range. I was also thinking to be able to re-attach and reconstruct damaged sections so long as all the parts were within the uplink's range.
