I don't really think Gabe's point of view is that bad.

A world without mankind seems like a better world to me too.

I don't think all people are just so stupid/evil/selfish/whatever, I just think the world's inevitably better off without us.

Why would it matter though? Sure, the "earth" would probably thrive more without us here. Several animal species would probably still be alive too . But why does it matter? Who cares what a non-sentient planet really is like if the only thing on it are some animals?

It just seems like a crappy point of view to me. If you can't believe in humanity than what the hell can you believe in?

I accept that the human species will not try to eliminate itself, I accept mankind is not bad in it's nature, and I yet believe that the world is better off without us.

Eh, some people are rather terrible. Some are awesome though, so I guess it balances out.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

If you get trolled, it's your own fault.

Easy ways to avoid being trolled? Avoid posting personal stuff where everyone can see it; don't act like a moron; don't ask for it; don't be naive. The Internet demands a certain degree of cynicism and scepticism to survive outside of Facebook. If you're crying about how your parents wouldn't buy you a videogame on your blog and someone makes fun of you, then you've asked for it. It's that simple. I'm certain people would make fun of someone in real life for that too.

Good ol' truth right here. I've been on the 'net for 6 years now and I have NEVER gone to the extent of Jessie or similar occurrences. I did feel pretty bad the first couple of times I was either trolled or told harsh criticism but with a level head and a reasoning, you get over it.

She's 11 years old. I don't know how much maturity(level head and reasoning) you can expect from someone of that age. She reacted in a typically naive fashion, with no regard or thought for consequences, because she isn't really old enough to understand.

Once again, in that particular situation, the parents are to blame.

But didn't it say she started "trolling" and acting like fangirl first? That's something I hope she learned not to do online.

Though she and her parents are better than Anon: giving a 11 year old death threats, WTF.

She did, absolutely. My point is that she didn't know any better - if you do something like that at school the(consequences will never be the same) repercussions will be minimal, however the internet is a whole different ball game. That's why the onus is on her parents to make sure she is being treated in an age-appropriate manner.

I mean, she made another video, still, after all the drama.

Im going to agree with Pirate here.

It is her fault, she was craving the attention and she got it.

Still she was camwhoring already. Better that something like that happens so she learns her lesson instead of it escalating.

Her parents are to blame though. The Dad is just downright dumb.

I know, right? "Cyber police"? That sounds stright off from a meme.

It is a meme.

And yeah, 4chan is full of [bleep]s, but she had to be doing something stupid in order for them to do that in the first place. If I were a parent, I wouldn't want my child to be on the Internet. There are too many [bleep]ed up things as it is that can be easily found, sometimes by pure accident. They shouldn't have been doing that to a little girl, but I think both parties are at fault. The father's a moron, though I sympathize with him. If I were him, I would have probably done a lot worse (I.E short of killing somebody). Since I'm not him, I probably would have been pissed off, unplugged the computer, and canceled my Internet service if it got that bad.

It's stupid to expect kids not to go on the internet these days. My 10 year old brother knows more about the internet than my parents ever will. But what the parents can do is take a look at what their kid is doing every now and again. I take a look at what my brother is doing every now and again and make sure that he's not doing anything stupid that'll get him bullied or trolled.

Places like 4chan only come after you if you provoke them with something stupid, lulzy or you try to come at them. If you don't do anything like that, you won't have a problem usually.

She made another video. That's pretty good proof that she won't learn without good parental guidance.

And while I agree that kids will use the internet in this day and age, there's no good reason they need unsupervised internet access until they're older.

For example, the only computer in my house with internet(Besides my computers which are in my room) is right in the middle of our house. You're free to use it but obviously there's a limit to what you can do with no privacy.

If you can't believe in humanity than what the hell can you believe in?

I'd like to put it this way: Humanity is not self-actualized. Our capabilities are tremendous. We can achieve great technological advancements, change the detrimental opinions of entire civilizations, help save others' lives, and the most important - just being a good person in general. But saying we can is not the same thing as saying we do. This stuff does happen, but I don't think it happens enough. There are too many things holding us back like bad habits, misconceptions, lack of empathy, etc. If we could progress past these obstructions, then I'd be happy with the state society is in.

I think in Jessi's case it's mostly the parents fault. I don't know if they knew about the earlier videos but they obviously knew about the last one with all the crying so they should have prevented it from being posted online. Parents should watch their underage children way better when they are online, an 11 year old girl just doesn't know how to handle it. I know you can't watch them 24/7 but you can check their history and cookies or install some program that does it for you.

should face the consequences

THEY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

If you click on them they hatch or grow up faster and look awesomer!!!

87.5% of all statistics are made up on the spot. If you're one of the 42% of statistics that doesn't, copy and paste this into your sig. In addition, 126.324% of the previous statement does not make sense.

People really need to learn that their actions have consequences. The internet has reversed what society has grown as its backbone which has been that when you do something that offends others, there is a good possibility of retribution. The distribution of the retribution now seems to come in larger chunks on a more select number of individuals now, which seems rather unbalanced.
